Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

David and the Puzzle

We got a break from the snow today.
A cold, windy, but sunny day.
Not a good day for walking in town though so I'm still down
in the basement.

Lunch Time

Went outside this morning and shoveled yesterdays snow off the driveway.
Ken came out and helped a bit today.

Then we got out the ATV and had some fun driving around
Happy Trails in the snow. Went up to check the cabin and all is well there.

Put away the puzzle and got out the next one.
As long as there is snow around we'll keep doing puzzles.
I got to thinking about the time when our son David was just
3 years old and we were doing a puzzle.
He wanted to do a puzzle on his own. He had those wooded ones
for little kids but he wanted a 'big people' puzzle.
I told him it would be too hard for him but he insisted.
So when we finished our puzzle I took 100 pieces out of the puzzle
of scene in it and set the pieces out on his own little table and he went
to work on it.  It took him 2 days but he did it without any help!!
He must have gotten the puzzle gene from us. 🙂🧩

Spent the afternoon doing a bit of this and that again around the house,
all my usual things.
I enjoy being at home but once in a while I sure do wish
we could go out and spend all day down in LaVale or Morgantown
like we used to. Would be nice to browse around in all the stores
and stop for lunch somewhere.
Well its something to look forward to. 😃

Hope your Thursday has been a good one for you.
Thanks for stopping by.

That's pretty amazing for a three year old to be able to fit the pieces in. I wonder if he does any puzzles now. Probably not. Young people are so busy with other pursuits.

You must have good puzzle genes yourselves!

...once again Ken's details amaze me!

I keep telling myself that I’ll work on a puzzle the next day! I have a couple that are really nice pictures. Do you ever frame any of yours when you finish them? I have some hanging on the wall.

Oh how I can relate to wanting to get out and browse in a store, not just run in to get the necessities .

Shoveling is hard work! I haven’t shoveled much snow but I am experienced in using a shovel around the farm. That’s another great scene along the tracks.

Nice story about your Son's Puzzle. Yes, since the virus started we've all changed our routines and it will be like this for awhile yet- unfortunately.

That is a great memory you shared about David. I am hoping that the vaccination process can go faster. We have (hopefully) some summer travel plans. Getting back to the simple things we normally do really does give us something to look forward to.

Love seeing the different scenes from the train display. While we were in Arizona we started a puzzle and Addy wanted to help. We ended up stopping at Goodwill and found some 45 piece puzzles for her to work on. It was nice to be able to eat inside restaurants in Arizona while we were there. Looking forward to some roadtrips in the future...

Those railway scenes are so realistic. What a lot of patience. Very enjoyable, thanx.

God bless.

Something to look forward to? How long do you think you'll be looking forward to it? If I had my guess, I'd say four years. It's fun when you say that it wasn't a day for walking in town so you're in the basement again. Speaking of which, my own dungeon is calling.

When I heard the $731M Powerball winning ticket was sold in Maryland I immediately wondered if you were the winner? :-) Ken's train display is looking great and I sure like your header.

We just had some hail an hour ago. Supposed to be a stormy weekend, I guess we'll find out. I like the story of your son wanting to do his own "big people" puzzle, such determination.

That's a nice memory of your son! Little kids can be so determined when they want something!

I love the scene from the railroad today! I forgot to tell you I liked the one with all the motorcycles the other day, too.

Both my girls still love puzzles...but they did not start that young. But, I don't think I did hardly any when they were that small.

Cute idea to take out a number of puzzle pieces out of a finished puzzle!! Ill have to remember that when my granddaughter reaches that stage.
