Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Dolly's Back

Another beautiful sunny morning walk.
60 degrees with a slight breeze.

Walked to town and around both cemeteries
a couple of times.

Passing by the pond I noticed two geese families were there.
This is the first I've seen of the little ones and they aren't
so little.  Wonder where they've been hiding!?

The fountain in the pond wasn't working and a couple of town
workers were trying to fix it.

Rebecca was out walking again too.

Saw the first fawn and mama of the season this morning in a back yard I passed.

Walked 6 miles

🌤     🙂     🌤

Food shopping day at the Shop and Save which we do
first thing after breakfast.

While I was putting groceries away Ken went to the lumber yard
in town and got some boards to get us started on the deck.

We were about to go outside after lunch when we noticed
a deer under the arched bridge out back.
You might remember last year a deer did that quite often
and we named her Dolly.
We sure it's her again.

She decided to take a rest there like she used to do last year.

The deck is not that far from the bridge and we didn't want
to scare her off with the saw and hammering so we didn't
work on the deck till later in the afternoon.
Didn't get much work done on the deck but at least
we made a start.

Thanks for stopping by.

Vee - you asked if the deer come around when we are outside. Yes, they do if we aren't making a lot of noise they just stay around walking and eating as usual. I think they see us often enough to know we aren't a threat.

Ruth - What a wonderful memory of daisies and your Jake!

Anni - Our new rug isn't very exciting looking but here's a picture.  The size is 7 x 9 and is blue/gray.

...Karen, I don't think that your deer understand Ken built a bridge in your yard. They think that it a deer shelter. From the looks of thing gardening will be a challenge! Take care.

I'm thinking Dolly might have stayed put in spite of the sawing and hammering. I figured they are all comfortable with you there. Haven't these been wonderful, low humidity days?

Oh, I am glad to see her...I bet you could start talking to her and have her eating from your hand.

Love the look of the new rug. That was very kind of you two to postpone working on the deck for Dolly's sake. :) Happy Tuesday to you!

Dolly remembered her cool place under the bridge that her nice people built for her!

I think it is so special to have the deer come and make themselves at home like that.

So Dolly has come back to one of her favourite places to rest under the bridge. I love how comfortable she, and some of the other deer, are with you .
Nice new rug.

Hi Karen. I love the pictures of Dolly under your little bridge. I also like your new rug. We are thinking of getting some new area rugs for our house too. Haven't been able to get out much to look. Glad you had a good day. See you again tomorrow!

Hi Karen- I like your new rug- our house is carpeted in grey- easy to keep clean. The Dear seems very much at home under Ken's Bridge. Regards. KEV.

It's nice to see that Dolly is back. How nice and kind that you decided to not make lots of noise while she was around. Enjoy the day!

I think it was very sweet of you both to wait and not frighten Dolly. It must be fun watching the wildlife come out of the woods and enjoy your lovely yard.

Dolly is so cute there under the bridge. What kind hearts you and Ken have to let her rest there. She probably loves all the beauty there, like me.

Geese and ducks can have as many as 15 to 18 babies at first, but by the time they get to the size I saw around your pond - they are usually down to 5 or 6. I worked somewhere where ducks nested every spring and it was always such a joy to see the mama leading her large brood down to the pond to swim - but in a few months there were usually only a few adolescent ducks left. Hawks, I was told thinned the duck population. Made me sad, but it is the way of nature, I guess.
