Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Our contest

When I left the house this morning for my walk it was
43 degrees, calm, and cloudy with the feel of rain
so brought along my umbrella.

Just walked down the hill here from my house as I head
out toward town.

After the first mile I felt some drops of rain and up went
the umbrella soon after.

Walking around the first cemetery after getting to town
the rain stopped.

Walked around cemetery number two,
then around a town a bit
before going back home.

This is my turn off that leads home.

A little ways down the road there was another quick rain shower
before I made it back in the house.

Took a couple pictures of some rabbits and a pretty yellow
weed but all came out blurry.
Saw a rust colored bird which I see once in a while.
Think it is a thrasher but not sure.

No people out walking.

Walked 6 miles

It was a rain day so we've been inside all day.

The steering wheel came in the mail today for the play station
racing game so we got that set up.
Driving the car from the drivers perspective makes me dizzy
so I won't be playing that game.
It didn't bother me when I used to controller but the view was
from outside the car.
It doesn't bother Ken.

I got more cross stitch done today, knitted,
and read some too
besides doing a bit of house cleaning.

Ken made us nachos for lunch.
He makes them on tin foil and then puts them on the oven rack in the oven.
After we are done eating we always have a little contest.
We ball up our piece of tin foil and we get three tries
to throw it in the trash can from across the room.
We move the trash can out from under the sink for a better shot.
Today neither of us made it in.
Haven't kept a record but I make it in more times than Ken.
You would be surprised where that ball of tin foil goes.
We often hit the ceiling and today Ken got it right in the sink.

We stand from where I've taken the picture.

We've been watching The Last of the Summer Wine.
We have all the seasons.
Just watched the episodes where Compo (the scruffy one) dies.
Those three shows are just so sad and I cry every time.
I think it is extra sad because in real life he did die.

Turned cold again this evening and right now it is snowing!!!
Crazy!!

So that's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy and healthy day to you.

Vee - The Dollar General (at least the one here in town) is a small grocery store and prices are generally cheaper.  We get what we can there and get the other things at the Shop and Save.  The only thing that the Dollar General doesn't have is fresh produce.  It also has cards, some seasonal things and a small selection of clothes.  It's a pretty handy little store and great for our little town.

Hi Karen. I love your kitchen. It is so homey and cozy. Glad you had a good day. I will have to look into that series. Sounds good. Have a good weekend! I will see you tomorrow!

I think you'd have to be a pretty good shot to hit the garbage can from over here on the photo. I never was able to throw a ball and I'm quite sure I would have missed by a mile!

Oh, so your Dollar General and my Dollar General are two different things altogether. Mine sells all sorts of things, including groceries, which is why it is still open...essential. All my greeting cards are purchased there because they're nice and inexpensive.

Your sunny kitchen is lovely. I am shocked that you two are playing basketball there, though. 😉

I think that's how basket ball was invented; with tin foil and nachos.

God bless.

Well, that’s nacho normal way to play basketball. Hahah.
I am a thrower. I try to ring the trash can all the time with papers. Nick gets on to me. Maybe I should challenge him.

Hello,

Your kitchen is very pretty! The nachos sounds yummy, my hubby does not like Mexican food. It is really cold and windy today, in the low 30's.

Happy Mother's Day weekend! Enjoy your day!
