Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Army Base

The weather this morning was not that great and I
chose to walk inside.
It was right at 32 degrees and raining and I was afraid I'd
come across icy patches.
(late afternoon it started snowing)
I guess I was being extra cautious since my ankle
is just better.  Didn't want to take a chance of twisting it again.

An army base on the train layout.
Some soldiers out training.
We started watching a new show on Netflix last night
called Kingdom and it is pretty good.
About a lawyer in a small town.
Nice to have found another show we like.
They are few and far between now a days.

I spent most of the afternoon reading and finished A Great Reckoning.
This is book 12 in the Gamache series.
A lot of times I find when authors write a long series of books
that after a while the books aren't as good.
Not so with this series.
This was the best so far.
I thought it was excellent!

Pretty quiet day here around the house.
Till next time . . .
a happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

GrannyM - In years past there were gifts in the stockings.  This year we are not getting each other gifts so the stockings are just decoration.

Wise choice to walk inside again. It’s raining here, pouring more like it. Good thing the temps are mild. There were lots of accidents last night.

I suppose that Ken finds it easy to recreate military bases and scenes. 🙂

I can tell you from experience it pays to be careful! LOL

I will look at that series, cause we sure have trouble finding things we both like. I can watch some things over and over but Roger doesn;t like to.

I agree with you that the Gamache series does not get old. Every new book is like visiting old friends. Love that army base!

...Karen, what are the dimensions of Ken's layout? What amazing work that he does!

I wondered what army base you'd be writing about.

Hi Karen - thanks for another cool picture of Ken's train layout. Good idea to walk indoors today. We will be going to the mall later on to walk. Glad you found another series you like. We don't watch a lot of TV at all. Charly watches movies and I watch the news and Dateline, and some documentaries on PBS. Hope you enjoy your Saturday evening and have a good day tomorrow!

My DH just finished reading "The Great Reckoning". Better take it and the other borrowed books back to the library tomorrow ( yes, our library is open on Sundays).

An army base on the layout was a nice surprise. "We" always enjoy seeing more of Ken's work from along the tracks. Our weather was pretty descent today for a longer walk.

Hello,

The details on the army base are amazing, well done. I was glad to see the rain come to an end yesterday. No snow here. I have read all in the Gamache series, looking forward to the next one. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day!

We're always looking for decent things to watch, also. It's not easy! We are currently watching West Wing. I have looked on Netflix and can't find Kingdom. Is it on disc only? I love Ken's train layout. There is a man at church who spends days setting up his train layout in the church for us all to enjoy every Christmas. Looking forward to that this Sunday.
