Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Happy 4th

Got up a wee bit later than usual and headed out for my walk
at 6:45 this morning.  It was 62 degrees, sunny, and calm.
Walked to town.
To the old house, around the ball park loop
and back home.

Only saw a bunch of chipmunks and they were all running
around chasing each other!!

A bit of activity around town this morning getting ready for
the parade which goes down main street.
People working at the firehouse setting up tables for food
for after the parade.
There are some craft tables set up also.

When I got back home I sat out on the front porch to cool down.
Would have welcomed a rain shower while walking this morning.
Did my usual morning routine
and got a load of laundry out on the line.
Did some outside work and for lunch Ken and I roasted hot dogs
out on the fire pit out back.
Just as we were finishing a thunder storm came rolling in.

Cleared up later and for supper we cooked chicken out on fire
pit and baked potatoes wrapped in tin foil.
This time it started raining just as the food was cooked.
So we brought the food out to the front porch and ate supper
there at the picnic table listening to the rain in the trees.

In spite of the rain we had a great day.
48 years ago today Ken and I met.

Happy 4th of July to you! Sounds like a good day for you...it was a quiet day here. Hot and humid, as usual.

Sounds like your day was near perfect. Hotdogs roasted over an open fire are just the best.

...as hot as a firecracker here today. After all our rain this spring, I like a good soaker!

Sounds like a good day, though it also sounds like a scorcher.

I don't think my city does a parade. They do for Veterans day, I know for certain.

I always think it would be fun to live on a Main St. when it's time for a parade. Would be nice to watch it from your own front porch. Your meals on the fire pit sound like fun. Glad the rain didn't interfere with your plans too much. We sat on the porch and watched a thunderstorm yesterday too.

We had a HUGE downpour, too. It's so good for the garden!
