Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The deer and the hosta.

Just a cloudy morning when I started out on my walk.
64 degrees with a slight breeze.

Walked to town and around both cemeteries,
through town and back and then headed home.

Just me and the usual deer and rabbits and birds were about.

About 2 miles from home I felt the first rain drops.
Then a nice gentle rain for the next half mile.
Nice listening to the rain falling on the leaves.
THEN
the clouds let all the rain out at once and the rest of
the way home it rained.
I was soaked and dripping wet by the time I arrived home.
Ken was just coming down the road to rescue me but I was
already soaked so thanked him but continued walking home.

Didn't have to eat breakfast at home because it was Baby Blanket
day and we have breakfast there before we start on the blankets.
I had volunteered to bring breakfast this month.
While I was out walking Ken made
Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls for me to bring.
I cut up watermelon and cantaloupe and brought that too.
We all ate breakfast and then Marilyn
gave the devotional for this month.

Last month Crystal asked if I would show her how to make weave-its squares.
So Ken bought a weave-it loom on eBay for her
and today Crystal learned how to make them. 🙂
She did well making the first one with only a couple of mistakes in it.
She will be a whiz at making them in no time!!

I planted hosta out back to see if the deer would eat it.
Last evening we were watching her out of the bedroom window when she found it.
Thought she would gobble it right down but she just ate a few leaves.

Didn't go out for pizza Monday but we did go this evening.
Not to Brenda's but to Ledo's

Never did see the sun today.

Hope your Thursday was a happy one.

There is something quite tranquil about a deer. Wonderful shots of this one.

We had rain earlier in the day, but I think it's dried out now.

Beautiful photos Happy One. I like that Ken made cinnamon rolls for you while you were out for a walk. You two make such a wonderful team.

...I have a large collection of hosta and for some reason our local deer leave them alone.

I wonder if there is something about hostas that the deer do not like...I thought sure you were going to say it ate it all. I am glad it didn't.

Getting soaked in the rain is going to happen to me ... sooner or later. Today, when I started, there were a few drops here and there, but most of the walk was dry. Sometimes I see folks carrying umbrellas. Good for you finishing up the walk even in the rain.

I've gotten sprinkled on the last two evening walks I've made. I'm glad you were on the way home when you got wet! Love seeing those deer so close! Enjoy your evening! Too hot to walk tonight...boohoo!

I guess that wasn't the mama deer that came around. Luckily she didn't eat the Hosta. Does that mean you'll be planting more in the future?

What a gorgeous place to walk! I love the peace provided by the country, and the way a walk can clear your mind while providing good exercise. I'm excited to visit your blog regularly! ~Jeff

I got caught out in a thunderstorm once. Oh, how it rained! I kept going even though the rain was so heavy I could hardly see. I thought my eyes would never be normal again. If it should ever happen again, I will just sit down and put my head down on my knees.

Hello, love the pretty deer. I am glad your hosta survived. We had a little bit of rain, most is missing us now. Wishing you a happy day and weekend!

HI Karen- It is 4 Deg here in the morning, reaching a top of 10...my little heater in the shed is struggling to cope- and so am I. Hoping for an early Spring. Made some model Buildings to-day for my SCi-Fi Project...will paint them tomorrow. Hope you don't get caught in a down pour again- not much fun getting soaked. Regards. KEV.

Hostas don't last long in this area. I have several in my back yard in the town house - the deer ate them down every year, but they continue to come back up. After a few years - the Hostas just gave up.

Good experiment with the Hosta. Mine haven't been eaten either. That's nice that Ken set out to rescue you!
