Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Barn Collective

These two barns are the last ones from our ride to Staunton, back when
there was no snow, the sun was shinning and it wasn't zero degrees outside.

This barn is from a couple of weeks ago on a morning walk around town.
Nice to see some repair work on it.
So many barns are just left to fall down.
Linking up with Tom for the Barn Collective.
🚜     🚜
Another day of zero temperatures but at least the sun was out
for part of the day.
It was then that I went outside and shoveled the driveway again.
I can't believe I was actually warm shoveling snow and had to put my
hood down.

We finished the next puzzle already.  Though it was 1000 pieces
the pieces were big and it was a real easy puzzle to do.
Started knitting myself a pair of slippers.  They go really fast and I should
be done with them in a couple of days.
 ⛄     ⛄
All year I've been in a STEP competition.
The results are in.
Out of 72 people I held 7th place throughout most of the year.
The goal was to walk 15,017 steps each day which comes to a total of 5,400,000
for the year.
My steps for the year were
5,974,731
The winner was way out there in front of everyone with
a grand total of 8,613,615
🚶     🚶
As most of you know I pick up coins that I find on my walks and
save them in clear glass banks.
This year was not such a good year for finding coins.
Only $2.28 for the whole year.
2 quarters
10 dimes
2 nickels
68 pennies
💰     💰

I wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year.
God Bless You.

Today I'm thankful for
Being outside in the sunshine and fresh air.
Having quick reflexes that I was able to catch myself and hold on to the railing and not fall down the stairs to the basement.

I always appreciate your posts. I have to say that your quote, at the beginning of your post, has had a great affect on me. I think of it often. Best wishes for a great 2018!

...Happy New Year Karen, that second barn will disappear come spring. Keep putting one foot in front of the other in the new year!

Happy New Year! Wow, 5,974,731 steps. Was that one pair of walking shoes or did you go through more than that? Love the barn photos.

My walking shoes usually last about 3 months or so.

I hope this isn't a repeat...hit those magical buttons and lost what I was typing...Anyway, I worked another puzzle, too...just 500 pieces. Started it at about dark yesterday and finished it this morn. It was one of those that you need a microscope to see if you have the right pieces together...

anyway, Happy New Year! Oh, I know I loved your barns!

Wow! Well done on walking so many steps!
Great barns but a shame so many are left to fall apart.
Wishing you a blessed 2018!

Wow that's a lot of steps! I do good to reach my goal of 10K a day. I use a fitbit tracker.
Happy New year!

Love those barns and the barn quilt flag. I now want to get a step counter. Used to have one years ago, don't know what happened to it. Happy New Year!

You are amazing in meeting your walking goals. Yikes! That's a lot of steps. Hats off to you. I am really tickled at how much loose change your find out there on your walks. Someone must have a hole in their pocket! Lol. I have to find puzzles with larger pieces for my dear old pop to put together. His eyesight makes it hard for him to put together small piece puzzles or dark scenery puzzles. Happy New Year!
