Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The Cattails are making a comeback

🌾     🌾
Sunny and 63 degrees when I was out walking this morning.
The sun no longer wakes me up at 6:15 shining in the bedroom window.
The days are getting shorter.

Look what has started growing again around the town pond.
Maybe by next year the cattails will be back along with the red winged black birds.
I first walked to the post office to mail off a letter and then continued
walking all around town.  Walked 3 miles when I ran into Kathy and I
ended up walking all of her 3 mile walk with her!!  We just got to talking
and didn't stop till her walk was finished.
George was out and we both stopped to talk to him a bit too.
Also saw Rebeca out running.

When we had walked back to Kathy's car, we said good bye
and I walked back home.

Walked 6.7 miles
🌾     🌾
I had some of that Rhubarb Dessert I made the other day for breakfast.
Ken doesn't care for it so I have to eat it all myself.  😊
I figured if I eat some of it for breakfast I won't be temped to eat it between meals.

Didn't do much today.  Just home doing a bit of this and that.
Got some reading done, walked around the yard and sat
in my swing for a while and took some pictures of the clouds in the sky.
After a while the sky got dark, heard thunder and moved unto the front porch.
Sure looked like rain but all we got was WIND with a couple of drops of rain.
Still a chance of rain later and I hope it does so I won't have
to water the gardens.

Hope you found bits of happiness scattered throughout your day.

Desert for breakfast! That sounds like a good plan.

You are going to get me started with that photo of Goldenrods...when I start seeing them, I start with Helen Hunt Jackson's poem that starts:
The golden rod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The trees in apple orchard
With fruit are bending down...
...........
Lets hope that the cattails do come back...a pond is not a pond without some cattails.

You remind me to be on the lookout for cattails. We did not have the invasion of blackbirds this year either, come to think of it. For the last two years we had three days of noisy blackbird visits, LOTS of pretty guys. Hmmmm.
Happy weekend, Karen.
