Outback for supper

The little stream behind the ball park.
🌾     🌾
A nice sunny morning with some low hanging clouds.  Kind of neat to walk in the sun
and see clouds in front of you.  Temperature was 55 degrees
(up 10 degrees from yesterday's 45)
and just a slight breeze.  Great walking weather.

No particular route again, another one of those random all over the place walks.

This is what the town pond looks like now.
Didn't see anyone else out this morning but here a couple of pictures along my walk.

Walked 6.2 miles
🌾     🌾
A busy morning around the house cleaning.

Mid afternoon we drove over to Morgantown, WV (30 miles away)
to return all the Comcast equipment that we had.
Haven't been watching ANY television so decided to get rid of it altogether.
We do fine with just watching Netflix.

While we were there we looked around a few stores and then had supper at Outback.  We don't do that often so it was a real treat.
I usually get the Victoria's Fillet (medium rare) with the sweet potato
and it is what I had today.
Comes with a salad too and I love the black bread there.

I have been really bad about doing my exercises and today I got
back to doing them.  Easy for me to walk every day but it is a job to
get those exercises in.

A nice relaxing evening awaits me now,
and of course some ice cream.

A happy day to you.

Sandi - The road in the picture from Saturday that you  asked about leads up to one of the cemeteries I walk around most days.  Hard to tell from the picture but it is a hill.  This is at the top and you are looking at the entrance to the cemetery.  It circles around and I come back around from the left.
Taking a right turn at the top of the road ends at one of Farmer Marvin's barns.  On the left is the Drane house and the pond which I often take pictures of and where the horses are.

Saturday's Critters and no morning walk

Linking up today with Eileen for Saturday's Critters.
Came across this Gray Cat Bird in the middle of the road today.
Looks like he has a broken left foot.
I got up real close to take his picture and then he flew away.
🍄     🍄
7:00 this morning out my front door.
Doesn't happen very often but when I woke up this morning I heard the
rain on the roof and windows and turned over and went back to sleep.
Got up at 7:00 and the rain was still coming down in buckets and I just didn't
feel like walking and getting wet.

It rained ALL morning and we got about 4 inches of rain.
By lunch time it had stopped raining and then we had a mixture of sun
and clouds and it stayed in the 60's.

Spent some time this morning trying to get caught up with blog reading.

After lunch we went up to Happy Trails to see how it was after all the rain.
Pretty wet and we really couldn't do anything.
I walked from the cabin down to our future driveway which is .3 of a mile.
I brought along my walking shoes and walked back home so I got part of my walk in.
From our future driveway, down the hill and to the main road is almost a mile
and then to town by the church makes 2 miles and
another half mile to home makes it 2.5 miles.
And I found a dime.
That wasn't much of a walk so I went for another walk this evening
after supper and this time I walked around town.
Every day at 12 noon and 6 in the evening the church in town plays
the church bells.  You can hear them at my house but today I was right
at the church when they started playing Abide With Me.
What great walking weather this evening.  It was sunny with a nice
cool breeze and the air was clear and crisp.
It is so nice outside after a heavy rain.
This evening I walked 3.5 miles.

A happy day to you.

Mexican Train Night

🐞     🐞
Temperature this morning while walking was 64 degrees.  Took along my umbrella
because it looked like rain at any moment.
At times there was a VERY light spritz of rain but not enough for
the umbrella.  The little spritz felt nice and cool.

Another one of those random walks all over the place.
At one point I walked down toward HT.
They have working on another building at the car dealer in town for
quite a while too.  Here's the latest on that job.
Another quiet morning around town and didn't see anyone at all out walking.

While walking past one of the corn fields I heard quite a rustle in the corn.
My first thought was I hope it isn't a bear!  But it was just 2 deer that
came charging out of the corn about 40 feet ahead of me.

Walked 6 miles
🚶     🚶
Ken got a call saying the tractor was ready for pickup so this morning we went back
to the dealer in WV with the trailer.
Even though Ken had marked with a green tag the hose that had to be
replaced, they replaced the wrong one.
Since they have to reorder another hose and then put it on we did NOT
come home with the tractor.
Well at least we don't have to worry about the other hose leaking now.

We had  friends over this evening for a game night of playing
Mexican Train so this afternoon I baked some
German Chocolate Cookies  and  Blueberry Muffins
I also put out the Welsh Cookies I baked the other day.
Watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries and grapes were also set out.

It had been quite a while since we all got together to play Mexican Train
and we had a lot of fun.
Everyone went home with little bags of goodies that were left over.

Hope your day was a happy one.

A work day

🐝     🐝
A mostly cloudy morning with just a little sun and 64 degrees.
My walk today was a random one all around town on no particular route.
I did peek in the window of the soon to be bakery like I said I would and
didn't see any sign of the tiles anymore but all the dry wall is up now.

Saw George out walking and stopped to talk to him for a bit.
Kathy was out walking too.

I think I might have posted this gravestone before but it has been a long time.
It always makes me smile.
You will have to click on it to read it but at the bottom it says,
"Neener, neener, neener
I'm in heaven and you're not."
 Walked 6 miles
🚶     🚶
After breakfast we headed out to church at 8:30 for a work day
doing Fingerprints.
Worked from 9:00 - 6:00 and we got nearly 5000 Romans books assembled,
stapled, cut and packed up.
At one point there were 20 of us there working but at the end of the
day there were just 4 of us finishing up.
A lot of work, but fun too and we always enjoy it.
What a blessing it is to be part of this ministry.

That took up the day and it is nice to be home now and
I'm about to have a bit of ice cream and watch another episode
of Call the Midwife.
Might not have time to visit you all tonight but will tomorrow.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Black Eyed Susan's

Some black eyed Susan's along my walk this morning.
🐝     🐝
This morning when I went for my walk it was sunny with a cool temperature of 54
degrees and what a beautiful morning it was.

Walked straight through town and then around both cemeteries.
Then headed up Sale Barn Road a ways.
Back to the main road, down toward Happy Trails a bit,  turned around
came back to town and walked around the ball park loop.
Before I knew it my walk was over and I was back home again.

Walking past the soon to be bakery I saw workers inside doing something.
Tomorrow morning I'll take a peek inside.
Other than that it was pretty quiet around town.

Walked 6.2 miles
🚶     🚶
We left this morning in the truck and towing the trailer with
the tractor on it we took it to the Kubota dealer down the road in WV.
It is leaking some fluid and needs a new part.
We have to leave it there for a few days while the work gets done.
Next we stopped in at church and got things set up for Fingerprints
which is tomorrow.  Nice to get set up the day before and we all can get
right to work when we get there tomorrow.

Picked up a quick lunch while we were out and then went to Walmart
and did our food shopping.

Got things put away and then I made some Welsh Cookies.

I had made a Sweet and Sour Cucumber Salad this morning
with cucumbers that I just picked from the garden.
We had it for supper with hot dogs that Ken grilled outside.

Then we ended the day going to the mid week prayer meeting at church.

Home now for an episode of Call the Midwife.

It's been a busy but good day.
Life is Good
A happy day to you.

Tuesday

I noticed some geese came back to the pond by the Drane house.
🌾     🌾
55 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds this morning when I walked.
A  beautiful cool summer morning.
Walked the Farm Loop.
A couple I've never seen before was walking there too.
I told them I'd never seen anyone else walk along here and they told
me they do every day.  I was a bit earlier than usual so we just probably
walk it at different times.

Back in town, I walked around one of the cemeteries a couple of times with Kathy.
I walked around the ball park loop and then home.

Walked 6.2 miles
🚶     🚶
It was a cloudy morning but I did a load of laundry and hung it outside
anyway.  Got the the lawn mowed this morning.  It was a bit
wet but it really needed to be mowed.
Also got a little more weeding done in the morning.
Then it was time for lunch.

We went bowling today.  It had been a few weeks so it was nice to
get back to it again and had a fun time.  There were 7 of us.
My games today were 136, 152, and 152 in that order.

This sun flower is one of the many that are in our yard.
All 4 of the blooms that you see are all on the same flower and there
are more that you can't see and some that haven't bloomed yet.
The day ended up being cloudy and the temperature never made it out
of the 60's.

A happy day to you.

Standing Tall

🌽     🌽
A nice sunny morning after two days of rain and pretty heavy rain at times.
This morning it was 62 degrees, sunny and some clouds and a nice breeze.

Walked the streets behind my house, over to the post office to mail off
a card, and through town.
A couple loops around the ball park loop and both cemeteries, a loop around town
again and then back home.

Kathy was out walking again but we just passed by today with a
cheery 'Good Morning.'

Walked 6.2 miles
🚶     🚶
The sun flowers in front of the dining room windows were all falling down
on top of the cone flowers and I mentioned that to Ken before leaving on my walk.
Ken surprised me by standing them back up and putting rope and wire around them
and they were all standing nice and tall when I got back home from my walk.
He also picked a few flowers and put them in a milk bottle and put
them on the table for me.
I had a big smile on my face walking up the driveway and it got even
bigger when I walked in the door.
Isn't he a sweetheart!!!
Wanted to mow the lawn but it is just too wet out in the yard after
all the rain over the weekend.  That will have to wait for another day.
Decided to do a bit of weeding out in the front garden.
All the rain made weeding easier and I weeded this morning for over
two hours.

After lunch I got some ironing done.
Always watch an I Love Lucy episode when I iron.
The one I watched today was when Lucy and Ethel go to Sun Valley.
It was one of the hour long episodes they had on the last
couple of seasons of the series.

We went to Brenda's for supper and got a pizza and salads.

It's been a beautiful sunny day in the 70's.
A perfect summer day.
Though we did have a little rain shower late afternoon
but that was good for the gardens.

A happy day to you.

Saturday's Critters

Linking up with Eileen today for Saturday's Critters
Lots and lots of rabbits are all over the place.
Took a picture of this little guy over by the post office.
Hard to tell from the picture but he is quite small.
 🐇     🐇
This is the only all white cow I see around here.
Saw her on my walk today.
🐄     🐄
This morning it was 64 degrees and started out foggy and no breeze at all.
But the fog didn't last all that long and before long the sun was shining.

Walked one of my town routes and it was very quiet around town this early
Saturday morning.  I had the whole town to myself.

Peeked in the window of the new bakery and the inside is coming along.
I can see framing and they cleaned up the floor and there are boxes of tiles
sitting around waiting to be put down.  It sure seems to taking a long time
getting this shop ready.  I'm looking forward to the day it opens.

Walked 6.1 miles
🚶     🚶
Made blueberry pancakes for breakfast.  These just might be my favorite
and a very close second is strawberries, but then I like chocolate chip
ones too.  I just like pancakes!! 😊

We went to Grantsville this morning to get a couple of errands done.
On the way back home we got that rain we needed.
Left home with the windows open so had a bit of sopping up water
when we got back home.  At least the gardens got a good watering.

1:30 we headed out the door with the Snickerdoodles I baked yesterday
to go to Chester and Linda's where a bunch of us met for an afternoon
of playing shuffleboard.
It is outside but under cover so it didn't matter that it rained.
And it sure did rain hard at times!!

Ken and I were partners and we played three games.
Lost 2 and won 1.
It was a fun time with friends and lots of good food too.

A happy day to you.

Favorite Cookies? Slipcovers

🐝     🐝
This morning it was a warm 70 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds.
Had one of those random walks all over town.
Going up to he cemetery I now walk up between two corn fields
and can't see over them anymore.
Lisa was out running.
Kathy and I walked together for a couple of miles.  We walked a little longer
together because we got to talking.
She is another one who liked the town pond with all the cattails.
We seem to be the only two.

Pretty quiet around town this morning.

Walked 6.2 miles
🐝     🐝
I made Snickerdoodles again today.  Going out to a get together with some
friends tomorrow and was asked to bring them.
I think the Snickerdoodles have replaced my Chocolate Chippers
for the favorite cookies now.
Not for me though.  Chocolate Chip cookies will always be my favorite.
What about you, Snickerdoodles or Chocolate Chips?
🐝     🐝
I have a couple of chairs that I bought at IKEA 8 years ago.
You bought a plain uncovered chair and then picked out the pattern
of slipcovers for them.
I've been meaning to take the slipcovers off and wash them but kept
putting it off because I thought they'd shrink and I'd not be able to get
them back on the chairs.  Well they were getting pretty dirty so I finally
had to try.  I did one of them yesterday and I'm happy to say
I didn't have any trouble at all getting it back on
the chair and it looks ever so much better, so I did the second one today.
Here's the chairs with and without the slipcover.
I've been home all day getting work done around the house.
At 2:15 I declared I'd done enough and read.

Ken's been up at HT again all day and when he came home we decided
to go out to Ledo's for supper.

At times it looked like rain but it never did.  Now we could use
a bit of rain.  If it doesn't rain tonight, I'll have to water all the
gardens tomorrow.
A happy day to you.

Thursday

🐞     🐞
64 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds for my walk.
Walked the Farm Loop.
Farmer Bill was out in his front yard and I stopped to talk to him.
You may remember me posting pictures of his white and black llamas before
and I  was asking him about them.  Turns out they are not llamas at
all but alpacas.  He was telling me that he has to keep them closer to the
barn now because the other day 2 dogs attacked them!!
Both alpacas are okay don't know whose dogs they are.

Back to town I walked a loop around town and around the Ball Park Loop.
Another stone house for sale in town.  This one down the road
from the school.  It has been empty for many months.
Looks like it too needs quite a lot of work but would be really cute fixed up.
Saw Kathy in town but from a distance so we just waved.

Walked 6.2 miles
Found a penny
🐞     🐞
Left this morning in my nice clean car with the latest two baby blankets
and went to church to meet the others for Baby Blanket Day.
There were 7 of us there today.
Lots of babies being born around here this month (36) but we have kept
up and not a baby left the hospital without a blanket.
I got 5 weave-its done for the next one in a mint green.

Didn't do much of anything this afternoon, mostly read.

Look at my daisies down the end of the driveway now.
I can see them blocks away.
That's about it for today.
 A happy day to you.

Butterflies, blankets and coloring

The sun trying to shine through some low hanging clouds this morning.
It did after a while and it was mostly a sunny walk.

HennyPenny - Yes, our new house will be up at Happy Trails.  No, those flowers were NOT in my yard but in Farmer Marvin's yard around his gazebo.
📌
61 degrees this morning and a bit of a breeze.
One of those random walks when I go all over the place but I did stay
around town today.

A tree that looked interesting to me.  It is by the town pond which you
can kind of see in the picture.
They put straw all around the edges of the pond.
A couple pictures along my walk.
Saw the man walking his big white dog around the ball park loop.
Then I spotted Kathy walking toward me and when we met up I turned
around and we walked together for about a mile and then we went our separate
ways again.  You might wonder why we don't walk together but both of
us prefer walking alone but a mile or so together is nice.

Walked 6.2 miles
Found a dime and a penny
⛅     ⛅
Ken went up to Happy Trails in the morning to clear some more rocks out
of the way of the building site.  Nice ones that he wants to save and has been
putting them in several piles out of the way.

I stayed home and washed cars.  Washed mine first and then took it for a
little spin around the Farm Loop.
When I walk the loop it doesn't seem long at all but when I drove it I
thought it seemed a pretty far way to walk!

Next up was the Equinox.  Now that was one dirty car!!
I enjoy washing my car but washing the Equinox is work.
Took a few minutes out of washing cars to take a couple of pictures of
butterflies enjoying my cone flowers.
Didn't finish the Baby Blanket last night like I thought, but
I did finish it this afternoon.
Walked over to the library at 4:45 for some coloring fun at the library.
Just a few of us again.  I'm surprised more people don't show up!!
Anyway the 4 of us enjoyed it.

As always I had to leave a few minutes early and Ken picked me up
for Wednesday evening church service.
There doesn't seem to be a good time for supper on these days
so I went without.
BUT I'm off now for some ice cream.🍨

🍓     🍓
A sunny morning and 62 degrees for my walk today.
Walked the streets behind my house, the ball park loop, and both cemeteries.
Went up Sale Barn a ways too
and then headed back home.

Walking along the road near the doctors office a lady in a car stopped to
ask me what days the office was closed.
Told her I thought Monday but knew they were open on Tuesday.
She then told me that today was Wednesday and I told her I was pretty sure
it was Tuesday today.  She insisted that it was Wednesday.
Anyway I told her she was a bit early and that they don't open till 8:00.

Saw Kathy's car in the parking lot by the pond but never did see her.
Rebeca was out walking her dog.

Walked 6.3 miles
 🍓     🍓
Left this morning and went to Staples down in LaVale again to get final copies
made of all the plans to give to Ronnie.
We got 8 copies made of 7 different pages.
It took longer than we thought it would and ended up spending the
whole day there.
Had lunch at Wendy's.  I had the small spicy chicken Caesar salad
which was pretty good.

We dropped off the copies at Ronnie's who lives just 6 miles down the road
from our house.

Planned on going bowling but since it took longer getting the copies made
we were too late for bowling.  There is always next week for bowling!

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to finish the Baby Blanket this evening.

That's it for today.
A happy day to you.

Drawing of our house

🐄     🐄
62 degrees this morning and sunny on my walk.
Walked the Farm Loop.
Some cows along the way.

I spotted the heron again today.  This time he was standing in the little
pond at the Dairy Farm.
Right after I took this picture he up and flew away.
George lives along the farm loop though not on a farm.  He was out in his yard
when I walked by and I stopped to talked to him.  Must have stayed there
talking for at least 10 minutes.

Then headed down the road back to town and made a loop around one
of the cemeteries and then met Kathy over by the ball park loop and
walked around once with her.  Then I headed home.

Walked 6.3 miles

Yesterday my hand itched like crazy and was swollen from the yellow jacket
stings but today it is not as swollen and less itchy.

Ken has been working on house plans and finished them up today with
all the changes we've made.
Just have to make some copies for Ronnie to give to the other
contractors and we can then get started.
Here's a drawing of our house.
The color will be a forest green not the green color in the picture.
The low part on the left is a walk out basement.
One day the home of Ken's train layout.
It was a beautiful sunny summer day with a nice breeze.
Seems to me that the summers here are perfect.
Did a couple loads of laundry and after hanging them on the line
before going back in the house I weeded and filled up a bucket.
Mowed the lawn after lunch and took a little more of the meadow away.
We decided to go to Brenda's for supper.
No 1/2 price pizza during the summer.
I got a cheese calzone.  Yummy!!
A happy day to you.
