Bread

Not quite spring yet in Garrett County!
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Woke up to the cold, snow, ice, and wind this morning.  Is this really April!?  Got out of bed of 7:00 and decided to walk later in the morning when it warmed up a bit since it was supposed to stop snowing later in the day.

Did my morning around the house stuff and then left on my walk at 10:30.  The snow had stopped and it was up to 35 degrees.  First walked over to the library and dropped off an audio book in the book drop.  The book drop is by the door there, the main door is to the right and not in the picture.
I continued on my walk up to Sale Barn Road and walked the road until I got to the top of the hill where it was wide open and cold from the wind.  Turned around and walked back down the hill.  Stopped and said hi to one of the cows, number 49.
Once back in town I once again went to the library which was now open so went inside.  Checked a book out and put another one on hold which should be in on Monday.

Then went home to drop off the book and left again to finish my walk around town.  For about 1/2 hour there was a bit of blue sky showing through the clouds and the sun shone for about 10 minutes.  Glad I was outside walking during that brief period!! : )
I walked 6 miles.

Started reading Wonderful Lonesome by Olivia Newport.  It's the first book in an Amish series.  The second book is Meek and Mild which is the one I'll get from the library on Monday.  Learned about the books from a new blogger friend Christine.  Stop by and check out her beautiful pictures on her blog, Christine and Her Camera

Still reading The Drums of Autumn too and I'm a little more than half done.

While visiting Mary Jo she told me about 647 Bread (Schmidt Old Tyme) and I found some in the Shop and Save up here.  I like it because it has 7 grams of fiber in one slice and is only 40 calories.  The slices are not super thin either but looks like a regular slice.  You can get white or wheat and I got the wheat.  I was so happy to find it in the very first store I looked.
I still make bread in the machine but it does have a lot more calories.  I'll save that bread for grilled cheese and French toast.

Ice cream day and I'm having chocolate chip mint later.

That's it for today.
A happy day to you.

  2. I can hardly keep up here. One day winter, the next spring.
If it makes you feel any better, we are supposed to have a low of 28 on Sunday morning. I'm going to have to bring my new strawberry plants into the garage for the night.
I have never heard of the bread you mentioned, but I like the info you provided. I will have to see if it is sold around here.
    Have a nice weekend, Karen.

  3. Brrr! It certainly does look like winter! I've never heard of that bread. I will look for it, but doubt it will be around here. I've been enjoying some Alpine Valley organic with 60 calories per slice.

  4. Oh, the picture of the red barn in the snow is so pretty. You're so dedicated! I think the cow is wondering why you're out in that weather...LOL

  6. My libarary has an automated check system when you return a book. It goes on a belt and gets scanned back in. So your account gets cleared right then instead of later.

  7. We had orange chocolate chip ice cream tonight. I will have to look in my library for that author, I like to find new ones.

  8. It is just amazing the crazy weather some of you are having! I do enjoy reading about your walking adventures. I enjoy Amish fiction. I'll have to look that series up.

  10. Gosh more snow, don't worry about all those calories in your home made bread as you'll soon burn them off keeping warm!
Have a great weekend Happyone :)

  11. Hi Happyone, It sure sounds like winter is wanting to hang on back there. I don't think I've mentioned it before, but your current header is great. In this post the first photo is a favorite.
