Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

A lazy day

A picture from Tuesdays morning walk.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
No walk yesterday.  We drove down to where we used to live which is a three hour drive one way.  Ken had a doctors appointment.  He's fine, just a checkup.  While he was at the doctors I spent a couple of hours visiting with my friend Mary Jo. So nice to see her and have a good catch up. : )

We are not used to so MANY cars and people anymore after living away from all that.  Was nice to get back home where things are much slower and no traffic lights.  : )

Today was nice to get back to walking after missing it yesterday.  Didn't even mind walking in the rain.  It was 40 degrees and at first it was raining.  Stopped raining after 3 miles for a couple more miles and then started again.  My rain gear sure comes in handy. : )

I got a good early start this morning right at 6:30 and walked up and down and all around the streets in town.  The only other person I saw out was a guy fishing in the town pond.  I thought he must like fishing as much as I like walking!! : )

When I got home and walked around back I was happy to see a cardinal having breakfast at the feeder.  Picture not very good because I really had to zoom in to get him and he flew off a second later.

Walked 6.3 miles.

It was a rainy, dreary day and we stayed home all day.  Just did a little of this and that but didn't really get anything done.  Finished listening to an audio book while I did some knitting.  Ken and I watched a few home renovation shows on Netflix.
Was hoping for some nice weather to get outside in the yard but I'm sure there will be many nice sunny days in our future. : )

A happy day to you.

Christine - Yes, funny you read a book about the Amish in Garrett County. : )  What was the book, I'd like to read it.

  1. I'm glad Ken is OK and that you could catch up with a friend. I know exactly what you mean about facing all that traffic after living away from it for a while.

  5. Your lazy day is still more busy than my busy day. I havent walked in two days. Just have had a lot going on after I get off work the past couple days. I will get back to it this weekend. It always feels good to walk ,rain or shine.

  7. Nice to catch up with friends we haven't seen in a while! That's still a really cute snapshot of the cardinal!
The novel was by Olivia Newport and entitled 'Meek and Mild' and is book two in her series Amish Turns of Time but is a stand alone read. I really enjoyed it as I love anything insightful into the lives of the Amish.

    1. Have you read the books by Sue Bender? She lived with an Amish family and wrote about her experience.

  10. Hi Happyone! Wow, time flies and you do a great job of posting daily! You are an inspiration. Here are a bunch of favorites from recent posts: church on April 5, sunrise over mountain April 5, comparison photos April 2 and 3, daffodils on the table inside on April 1, woodpecker March 31, reflections March 31, first sky picture on March 28, ALL of your Easter post, your kitchen March 25 ... I love the plates on display ... have several pieces of railroad china I should put around my room like that! (Railroad china = plates used in the dining cars of the classic passenger trains.) Wishing you and Ken a fine weekend ahead!
