Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

For the next few days I'll be posting a snowy picture
from my Sunday afternoon walk.
Isn't that sky amazing!!!
☀     ☀     ☀     ☀
Yesterday afternoon I put on my boots and went for a walk.  Though cold it was a beautiful sunny day.  The sky seemed an extra deep blue and it was just gorgeous outside.  So nice to walk outside.

Cold and icy this morning and walked 3 miles first thing this morning in the basement.  Finished the other 3 miles throughout the day.

I finished reading my book - only book number 2 for the year so I'm already behind if I want to read 50 of them.  The book was Innocence by Dean Koontz and I thought it was very good.  Addison lives alone beneath the city streets.  Gwyneth lives in seclusion trying to stay away from enemies who will kill her if she is found and a bond forms between them.

The new knitting project that I started is not going well.  It is a pattern for fingerless gloves and I just can't get the hang of knitting on DPN's.  I've tried quite a few other times to use them and I think it is time for me to give up with the DPN's.   I've moved on to knitting an afghan for myself for these cold winter nights.

Ken and I've been working on the latest jigsaw puzzle and should be done soon.  I have three others waiting to get done this winter.

I'll be starting my next book in just a bit and then the usual nice evening at home with ice cream, knitting and a little television.

A happy day to you.

How many lessons of faith and beauty we should lose,
if there were no winter in our year.

  1. Beautiful!! That is one big blue sky!

  2. The snow is amazing. I hope you are doing well. I will try to catch up on your life over the next few days.

  3. Beautiful outdoor photo. I think the combination of white snow and bright blue skies is hard to beat. I will look forward to the rest of your photos.
Hooray for making an afghan just for you. You have done such an admirable job of keeping so many of us warm with your lovely afghans!

  4. That is a gorgeous scene. The sky is amazingly blue.

  5. That is a really gorgeous picture - of a glorious winter day!

  6. What gorgeous blue sky! I'm behind on my reading goals, too. Just don't seem to be able to get myself still long enough to really read. In the "Dark Ages" I did a bit of knitting and gave an afghan to a friend. I don't seem to have that interest these days. You do lovely work, so I'm sure whatever you knit will be loved!

  7. That is a beautiful sky! Good for you for getting out and walking in all that snow. I was doing great on my reading, but have slowed down, so I need to pick up the pace again, but reading really should be relaxing - not a race to see how many books we can read. Enjoy this week.

  8. That sky is something else, a marvelous photo.

  9. The photo is just breath taking! I love the contrast of the vivid blue against the white. I've tried knitting several times and it just doesn't stick. I did better with crochet but have found I prefer to sew. Have a great day!

  10. Great photo Karen! The sky is so blue. I am a little behind on my reading too. I usually try to read a book a week. I admire people who are crafty like you. I am rather hopeless in that department!

  11. Just gorgeous! We can't get over how much snow you have. Glad that you were able to get outside and walk. I am glad that we have seasons and I might enjoy winter for a few short days. I am entering the winter of my life that will not end until glory and that gives me pause. I preferred autumn best.
