Giving Thanks Post Day Seven
Smelling
I have a very good sense of smell for which I am very thankful.
Love those baking and cooking smells.
Who doesn't like to walk into a house and smell bread or a cake baking.
Just think of Thanksgiving morning when the whole house
has all those cooking smells.
Without the sense of smell food wouldn't have much taste.
Clothes that have dried out on the line.
That's got to be one of my favorite smells.
You just can't bottle that smell like the advertisements claim.
You should hear me when I take the sheets off the line,
I go on and on about how good they smell.
Ask Ken!! : ) I'm sure he is sick of hearing about it. :)
Though I am not a fan of perfume,
if I get a whiff of Coty L'Aimant I think of my mother,
who when she was younger wore it all the time.
I used to open her closet when I was little
because it smelled just like her. : )
I like the smell of
baby powder
old books
lemons
rain in the air
and roads in summer when it just starts to rain
flowers - honey suckle being my favorite
coffee
Christmas trees
cinnamon
cut grass
leather
lavender
new car smell
Smell is something most of us take for granted,
and it is such a basic thing but what we would miss
if we couldn't smell.
Take time today and smell the roses.
happyone : )
The house smelled good today.
I bake 72 cupcakes for the kids at Sunday school. : )

I love all the scents you mention, too!
Can I have a cupcake?
I've always loved the smell of books...especially old books. But when I taught school one of my favorite times of the year was when boxes of new school books would arrive. The opening of those boxes would bring to my nose the scent of the new books fresh from the printer. I LOVED that! I was like a kid at Christmas!
You are so right, Karen, when you say that without the sense of smell our food wouldn't have much taste. It truly is about the combination of the two.
Have a good evening.
I love all the scents you mentioned except for perfume. I seem to be allergic to a lot of perfumes. 72 cupcakes, wow you are the baker! Have a happy weekend!
I miss the smell of christmas trees, we've had a fake one the last couple of years.
Smell is indeed something we take for granted, till we lose it. I can smell some things, sometimes, but all to often miss out on those special smells.
Now that's another one i wouldn't have thought of!
Isn't it amazing how evocative smells are? They can instantly take you back to a memory. My favorite are lilacs, evergreen Christmas trees, oh lots of thing!
How kind of you to bake cupcakes for the Sunday School kids. I'm sure they will be delighted to have such a treat.
Puppies' breath...a happy scent!
Lovely post Karen! My Dad always wore Aqua Velva and since he has passed away I do miss that smell.
all good smells. I was thinking today of how I love the smell of hiking in a balsam forest! Our sense of smell is often thought of as minor, but I find that scents can trigger incredible and vivid memories.
I love all those smells except for one...not a fan of new car smells. Course old car smells aren't too great either. LOL!
