Left the house at 6:30 this morning and it was 41 degrees out and foggy but the sun chased away the fog and it was a sunny morning.I walked through town and down towards HT and then around town including both cemeteries and the ball park.
Saw a couple of deer and a whole bunch of black birds sitting on the cat tails by the town pond. It was hard to tell in the fog but I think they may have been red winged blacked birds.
No people about this morning.
A foggy cemetery. |
Deer just off center to the left. |
Found my first coin for this month - a penny.

Our dinner at the Hen House was very good last night. Will certainly go back there again!Got three loads of laundry done and hung up on the line.
I'm loving these beautiful sunny fall days and it's been great that we got to do outside activities with David here. : )
This morning I baked chocolate chip cookies. Didn't have any in the freezer and I just couldn't have David here and not have chocolate chip cookies. : )
The other day when David took off walking he walked 9 miles. Late this morning he went on another walk and this time went 16 miles. Like I said he walks circles around me!!
Ken and I went up to HT for just a little while in the afternoon. I wanted to see the sliding glass doors that are now installed. The slider works perfectly. This afternoon Ken drilled holes in the railing posts and we threaded some steel cable through the holes to make a railing. We used that because we wanted something that wouldn't block our view. The steel cable was a great auction buy!!
A closer look at the cable.
We will do something else with the two sides of the porch. When we got back home David was back from his walk. We had dinner and then at 6:30 he left for home which is about a 5 hour drive to NJ. What a great visit we had with David. It was so nice that he got to stay for more than just a day. I shall miss him!!
Back to our regular evening, ice cream, knitting and a little television. I will make a start at getting back to visiting you all.
Hope your day has been a happy one.
happyone : )
Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I'll miss you
Until we meet again.

I'm so glad you had such a great visit with your son!
The cabin is looking really good.
There has been some great progress made on that cabin! I know it is hard work. Yes, chocolate chip cookies are in order! Those are definitely your specialty. It will be late when David reaches home. I know what it is like to tell "children" good bye when they have come to visit. Enjoy your evening.
I can tell you had a great visit with David and your idea is a good one to use the cables to have a clear view from your deck.
It seems like you had a great visit with David, I like the photo of him with his Dad at the cabin.

Hi Karen, it sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your son. My goodness, can he walk!
I love this cooler Fall weather too. I could spend all day outside.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Hello, Lovely photos, I found the deer when I enlarged the photo. I am glad you had a great visit with your son. I like the cable railing, it does help with the view. Are you putting siding on the cabin or using some other material? The cabin is looking great with the new sliding door and railing. Happy Saturday, enjoy your day!
Hi Karen, The steel cable is a great idea. Neat pictures, as always. I especially like the photo of leaves! Have a fine weekend!
The sliding doors and cable railing look great. What a nice spot to relax and enjoy nature's beauty.
Wow, David really is a serious walker. You obviously set a good example.
