Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My Thursday

Corn field
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
It was 70 degrees this morning when I left on my walk.  The on and off again rain showers and the breeze kept me cool.

Walked all around town, the cemeteries and the ball park.

The goslings are getting almost as big as the adults now.  They have moved from the pond by the Drane House to the town pond which is less than a 1/2 mile away.
I usually take pictures of old gravestones but this is the most recent one.  Just 9 months ago.
Didn't see any one else about this morning.
I think yesterday must have been the last day of school for the summer because there were no school bus drivers to wave to this morning.

I never actually got wet from the once in a while drizzle, just a bit damp.
Walked 5.4 miles.
Found a nickel.

We were supposed go out with the seniors from church for a fun time of miniature golf and pizza at FunLand but it was postponed till next week because of the threat of rain, though it ended up not raining.  Instead we went with a couple out to lunch at Uno's.  : )

The cable box that we picked up at Morgantown the other day didn't work so we had to call Comcast and have someone come out to see what was wrong.  He came this afternoon and though we weren't looking forward to it, things went fine.  He came a little earlier than expected and everything is now fine and working.  The box that we picked up was broken too.

One of the church buses has a leak in the gas tank and we went to pick up a new gas tank down in Cumberland.  A while back we did the same thing for the other bus.  It seems there is always something going wrong with one of the buses.  Dropped the new tank off at Bob's, a man from church who will put it on the bus.
It was 10 degrees warmer down in Cumberland at 87 degrees then here at home.  We like our nice cooler temperatures. : )

This picture of the hutch is for you Dianna. : )  Picture is not that great.  Too much light from the window.
This small plate with the blue trim is my favorite one.
Can anyone identify these yellow flowers?  These are not mine but I have a few that my friend gave me the other day.  They don't know what they are but never planted them.  They just popped up one year.
So that's been my day.
As always I'm looking forward to my ice cream later on. : )
Hope your day was a happy one.

I will be trying to think of the name of the flowers all day. My mom had a lot of it and I used to have some until it got shaded out. If I remember the name I'll let you know.
I like how you gave your hutch a fresh look for summer. The floral plates are a great idea and I, too, like the one with the blue rim.

The hutch looks very nice with all the pretty dishes on it. Glad you found out the name of the yellow flowers. So glad the church buses have new gas tanks! That's kind of important! Mary Jo

Karen, thank you so much for sharing the picture of your hutch...and your favorite plate. They are so pretty! I love the flowers. The second one in from the left on the top row is the same pattern that my mother-in-law had. She was down to just a few and passed them on to me, including the meat platter like is next to your favorite plate. They are treasures.

I agree with Ruth...the yellow flowers look like Evening Primrose. At first I thought they might be Buttercups, but I Googled pictures of both and although they are similar, the leaves on the ones in your picture definitely look like the Evening Primrose leaves.

Have a lovely weekend!

I do like your plates. I love old plates that remind us of grandmothers and often have a chip or two. Pretty collection.

Ohhhhh...that's a sobering quote. So that's what evening primrose is. I didn't know.
