Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Cabin Floor

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

The temperature this morning was 58 degrees with a mostly cloudy sky but I did see a little blue now and then.

Started my walk going to the post office and dropping off a Netflix.  Then walked down past the HT turn off a ways, turned around and headed back to town where I walked around one of the cemeteries and the ball park.

Didn't see anyone else out walking or running.  Lots of chipmunks and rabbits out as usual and I happened to get a picture of another bunny.

Walked 5.2 miles.

While I was out walking Ken went and got the plywood for the floor of the cabin.  He got back home a little after I did.  We had breakfast and then went up to HT.  It was cloudy but not raining.  Rain was predicted for afternoon so we wanted to get up and there and try to get the floor done.
We turned this plywood.
Into this - the cabin floor.
The part you see finished is the inside of the cabin.  We used tongue and groove 3/4 inch plywood.  Used liquid nail between the grooves and then nailed it all down.
The part you see unfinished is the entrance way and the front of the building will be our porch.  That will get pressure treated plywood and then a trex like material on top.

We had just finished and were going to have lunch when we felt the first rain drops.  We got it all covered with a tarp just before the rain came.

Back home I baked chocolate chip cookies.  This Sunday is my turn for supplying the Sunday School kids with a snack so these will be for them.

While baking the cookies I cleared off the hutch of my Fiestaware and put the china out on it that I've been collecting.  They are all different patterns but all have flowers on them.   I change the hutch around every so often just to look at something different.

It's Wednesday already so off to church we went after supper.

It's ice cream time now so off I go.
Hope your day was a happy one.

You can always tell when two people are best friends
because they are having more fun than it makes sense for them to be having.

  1. Love the first picture. That cabin looks to be a labor of love.

  2. Big step! Once you've got a floor, the walls will pop up into place fast, making it look like an actual building!

  3. Pretty view and I love the bunny! It is nice to see the floor down, some parts really go fast. The cookies sound yummy. I love the quote! Enjoy your day!

  4. LOVE your little bunny - and you guys are making great progress on the cabin!

  5. I'm so glad that the weather held out for you to be able to get the plywood down on the cabin floor! More progress! I would love to see a pic of your hutch since you've changed it out. I'm certain it is quite lovely with the flowered china pieces.

  6. Love the bunny picture. The cabin floor looks great. I have a cupboard in my kitchen that I change around once and awhile. I like to look at something different too.
Your quote about friends is so true!

  7. What great progress you are making on that cabin! Great that it was done just in time to cover with the tarp! Chocolate chippers are my favorite! I dare not bake them often at all!

  8. Love the quote! Cabin coming along quickly. Your pictures are awesome. Mary Jo

  9. The cabin's looking great! Can't wait to see what it will look like. I think I'm detecting an ice cream theme here, to your evenings, yes?

  10. Yup. Quite a project you two have going! And another fun and so true quote.

  11. In no time, that is going to look like a real cabin! Are you putting a stove in there?
