Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The Parable of the Pencil

I read the Baptist Bread each day which is a daily devotional.
This is from that book a couple of weeks ago.
I thought it was a great analogy.

The Parable of the Pencil
adopted from the Stand, Dr. Dennis Lloyd,
New Zealand

The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box.  "There are 5 things you need to know, " he told the pencil, "before I send to you into the world.  Always remember them and never forget and you will become the best pencil you can be."
 1.  You will be able to do may things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in  Someone's hand.

2.  You will experience painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to be a better pencil.

3.  You will be able to correct many mistakes you make.

4.  The most important part of you will always be what's inside.

5.  On every surface you're used on, you leave your mark.  No matter what condition you must continue to write.

The pencil understood and promised to remember and went into the box with purpose of heart.

Remember God said, Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands.
~Isaiah 49:16

Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men...
written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God;
not in tables of stone,
but in fleshy tables of the heart.
~II Corinthians 3:2 and 3b

I am happy to say that this morning I got to walk in the sunshine and the sun has been shining all day.
A blessed Sunday to you all.
Smile God loves YOU.

Comment replies:
Vee  and the others who mentioned the truck/car cookies from yesterday -  Yes, it tasted just as good as it looks.  I had one last night plus three other kinds for my snack. : )

Jeanne - I like little red cars too and also have one. : )

Inger -  I only wish I could eat as many cookies as I like!!! Even with walking I still have to be careful of what I eat.  Walking a mile only uses up about 100 calories.

I really like this parable. A great analogy! Those cookies from your last post look delicious - quite a temptation. You are so good know your limits and say no to those extra calories. Hope you have a great week. I love your Christmas cards. It is hard to find cards that honor the Savior at this time of year, but you found some nice ones!

What a wonderful parable! That is the first time I have heard that one. And beautiful scripture from 2 Corinthians. Thank you for sharing both. :)

Glad you had a sunny Sunday!
