Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Home today

Nap Time.  This farm cat completely ignored me when I took his picture.  They usually run away if I get close.

Back to walking my normal time at 6:30.  It rained during the night but by morning it was just cloudy with a little sun at times.  The temperature was 60 degrees.

Started out walking to the post office to drop a couple of things off in the mail slot and then continued walking around the Farm Loop.  Mom, Dad and the two kids were having a rest and didn't even bother to get up as I walked by.
A little chipmunk ran across the road in front of me.  Boy those little things can really run fast.

I spotted this little thing sitting in the middle of one of of Farmer Bill's fields.  Looks like a tractor seat on wheels. I wonder if this is one of his own inventions?  I've never seen one before.  I'll have to ask him next time I see him.
Stopped home for a pit stop after a little over 4 miles and then left again to finish my walk.

It was a quiet morning.
I walked 6.3 miles.
Found a penny. : )

Stayed home today getting some things done around the house.  Also had to finish reading my book for the book club this evening.  The book was Guests on Earth by Lee Smith.  It was okay but if it wasn't for the book club I wouldn't have read it.

Ken finally got to spend the day working on his pumpkin patch.  He wanted to get the seeds planted the first week in June but didn't make it.  Too much other things going on.  Today he got the rest of the sod up and cleared away, raked it all out and planted the pumpkin seeds.

The first rose on one of my Knockout Rose bushes.
After supper (meatloaf, roasted potatoes and beets) I'll walk to the library for my book club and Ken is going to pick me up from there and we are going to church to hear a guest musical group perform.  Though I have no musical ability myself I really enjoy the music at church and look forward to this evening.

Hope your day is sunny and bright.
happyone : )

Three Thankful Things
  1. Finished the book for my book club
  2. This months Tea Time magazine arrived in the mail
  3. A musical evening at church

  1. Good day!
    Your knock-out rose is beautiful.

I've had a meatloaf recipe that a blog friend gave me. I need to try it soon. You use applesauce to glaze it with ... yumm-o.

    Enjoy your evening.

  2. I know you will enjoy the performance tonight. Wish I were there to enjoy it with you. The teens at our church did a little skit Sunday night and I enjoyed that.
    Beautiful rose!

  3. Farmer Bill's wheeled chair looks intriguing. I clicked on the pic to see it close-up. That has me curious, as well.

I am not musically gifted either, but I love it, just the same.

  4. Supper sounds delicious! We are fans of beets!

Cats have a strong independent streak. Anything they do seems to always be their own idea.:-)

It sounds like a really good evening ahead for you. Enjoy!

  5. Nice rose, mine are still tight small buds, cute calico kitty who, if I didn't know better, might be Fioré. Oh I love special music evenings at church...hope you have a very enjoyable evening. Yay for the pumpkin seeds going in!

  6. I had to laugh about the cat, because they are like that. :) I once read a book and there was a part talking about the difference between cats and dogs. "When you call a dog, he/she comes. When you call a cat, he/she takes a message and gets back to you." So true.

  7. Love the cute cow family.. And the rose is lovely.. Meatloaf is one of my favorites for dinner.. Have a great evening!

  8. The cow pic is so cute and I love the cat!

Supper sounds good except I will pass on the beets. I had an overabundance of that veggie growing up. LOL

  9. I like the way that the chipmunks hold their tails up as they run.

I don't have a lot of musical talent, although I did play in the band in HS and college. But I sure love music of most kinds - not keen on rap or modern classical - but I love some kinds of music more than others. Music is one of the most amazing human creations.

  10. Looks like a great day... I'll be curious to hear what others thought about that book... I have never belonged to a book club --so when I don't enjoy a book, I seldom finish it...

Hope you enjoy the musical group tonight...

  11. Those cows look so relaxed lol. And yes, chipmunks are SUPER fast. They make me dizzy!

  12. It would appear that all of the farm animals are quite comfortable to have you walking by. I'm sure by now they know you pose no threat to them.
Your rose is so pretty. My knock outs already had their first blooming and now I'm looking forward to the next one.
    Hope you enjoyed the concert.

  13. I really like your photo of the cat napping in the sun. The light is beautiful. I'm also glad to see that your roses are starting to bloom.

  14. Oh, I just love the picture of the cat! He's really concentrating on something in the grass! Like the cattle family, too. :)

I've seen little contraptions like Farmer Bill's before. Folks use those to do planting/weeding. I guess it's less wear and tear on the knees that way.

Hello my friend.
Thanks for stopping by.
I'm hoping you will leave a comment.
Thanks. : )
