Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

A painting day

Low hanging cloud over the distant barn
♡     ♡     ♡     ♡
60 degrees this morning, sunny and some low hanging clouds around.  I usually leave around 6:30 but woke up a little earlier and was out walking at a few minutes before 6 so I got to see the sun coming up over the mountain.
I walked the Farm Loop and saw a deer run from one field to another but no picture this time.  A few killdeers were running around too.  Spotted a blue bird, swallows, and the usual red winged black birds.

The horses Faith and Grace were by the fence today but I couldn't get close to the fence and pet them because the weeds are up to my waist along the fence.

Walked around town too and behind the ball park I came across this written on the path.
The chalk was sitting on the side so I wrote a word in and changed it to read.
A quiet morning but a beautiful morning and great to be up and out early.
I walked 6.6 miles.

Right after breakfast we headed over to church to do a little more work on the radio station little garden and spent pretty much the whole day there.  We painted the fence that surrounds the garden, and the fence that surrounds the antenna dish and two other sections of fence where the cables are in the ground.  Used up two gallons of paint and it wasn't quite enough so have to buy some more but didn't feel like doing that today.  We weeded the section around the antenna dish.  Have some mulch to spread around but will get that done next time.  Still have a couple of bushes to plant too and then we should be done.

Feel good that we got that much accomplished today.
Hope your day has been a good one and you smiled often.

Three Thankful Things
  1. Seeing the sun rise and the start of a new day
  2. That it didn't rain so that we could paint the fence
  3. Ice Cream

Kerin - I usually start my walk around 6:30 and I'm home by 8:00 or a little after depending on how many stops I make to pet animals, talk to people or take pictures. : )

  1. The photos today are stunning! The sunrise is so beautiful! What a treat for you to see!

  2. Lovely capture of the sunrise, it is a beautiful start to your day! The low hanging cloud is a pretty capture too. Sounds like you had a busy and productive day.. Enjoy your evening and the week ahead.

  3. Lovely! And I am glad you changed the writing to "not stupid." :)

  4. What a sweet thing you did for Sam today!

  5. Oh, what a beautiful morning! Absolutely gorgeous for walking! Yay for adding to those thoughtless words on the sidewalk! Yay for all the progress on the garden! It sounds like a wonderful day.

  6. Beautiful pictures. It was meant to be that you would change the words with the chalk, because the chalk was left behind for you to do that. And if anyone would change the words to something positive, it would be you! Have a lovely evening :)

  7. Wow, Karen, you have just proved the power in one little word. Love this and hope that the original chalk writer came back and re-read the comment.
Beautiful photos today of your early morning walk.

  8. The sunrise picture is beautiful as is the fog. It's amazing how one word can make such a big change.Something for all to keep in mind, even as we speak.

  9. Oh I love what you did with the chalk! Hope that you stuck it in your pocket. = D

Wow! You were up with the chickens this morning. Wonder if that will continue while the day is long. Can't wait to see the prayer garden again.

  10. Your pictures are so beautiful!!
Love that you changed the writing on the sidewalk. I too hope that the person that left that message, sees the new message, and that they realize how important it is to be kind!

You spend a lovely time walking. I love that you don't feel rushed, and if you see someone to visit with, you do.
That's how morning walks should be :)

Sounds like you are doing some great gardening work! Looking forward to seeing it all come together.

    Happy walking tomorrow, my friend.

  11. Dear Karen,

Not surprised by the change in the sign that you made. It is so you!!

But never assume that maybe the original sign was correct. Maybe Sam *is* stupid. Who know what he did. We are all capable of doing stupid stuff.

What was not nice was announcing it to the world. Hope you hid the chalk so it couldn't be changed again!! LOL

  12. Thanks for the laugh and glad you helped Sam out!

  13. Good luck with the painting. And good job turning a negative message into a positive one.

I really like the two photos at the start of this post. Beautiful!
