Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Friday

22 degrees out there this morning with some wind and a cloudy sky.  I walked around town and the farm loop but went in the opposite direction that I usually do.

It's been nice walking while it is light out but that is about to change with the time change (which I DO NOT like one bit) coming this weekend and I'll be walking half of my walk in the dark.  The good thing though, is that as the daylight gets longer my mornings will be light again.
There were about 40 deer out on one of the fields.  I couldn't get them all in the picture and I had to zoom in on this group to get a picture of them that you could see.
I smelled the skunk long before I saw him dead in the middle of the road.  Off in the woods I heard a woodpecker but couldn't find him.

A couple of my horse friends came over to the fence so I could pet them and take a nice close up picture.  With the big snow pile gone I could walk right up to the fence.  There was another black horse off to the left but he just kept eating.  I call these two the twins.  They are Farmer Bill's horses.
I saw Farmer Bill's wife for the first time and said good morning to her as she was coming out her front door.  A few minutes later she passed by in a car.

I think I'll be able to do all my walking outside from now on. : )
I walked 6 miles.

I got a crock pot of my Red Ribbon Chili : ) going first thing this morning and that will be supper for tomorrow because as we all know some things just taste better the next day.   I also got some chicken cut up in pieces for supper tonight which will be the Sweet and Sour Chicken that I made a few weeks ago.

Just home today getting some house cleaning done.
The day ended up being sunny and high in the 40's.  It really feels like spring is just around the corner.

Enjoy your day and be happy.

I heard a neigh.
Oh, such a brisk and melodious neigh as that was.
My very heart leaped with delight at the sound.

Three Things That Made Me Happy Today
  1. Talking to and petting the horses
  2.  Being outside walking
  3. Thinking of spring

It must be wonderful to see that many deer out grazing. I have never seen more than a half dozen or so. Glad that you are walking outside so much and hope that it means no more basement walks because of snow.

So glad to hear that spring is on the way to you. Sounds like a very nice walk and you met so many of your animal friends. Those horses are beautiful! I sure would like to take that chili of yours! Have a great weekend.

How wonderful to have such a rewarding walk - deer and horses - even a woodpecker!

Your food sounds amazing! I don't think I congratulated you on that Red Ribbon Chili!

I don't like this time change thing, either!

Your photos tell of a life that is fulfilled with gratitude, I always leave so blessed and am in a hurry to read your thankful list, it always causes me to pause and remind myself of my blessings.
I pray your weather continues to improve, we have sunshine today and warmer temps.

Enjoy your day,
Sue
