Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Mowing the lawn

I had to take along my umbrella this morning on my walk.  There was a misty rain that came and went so my umbrella went up and down for the first few miles.  Then the rain  stopped altogether and I could see a few breaks in the clouds and finally some patches of blue.  It was cooler than it has been too.

I walked my town route and I saw one other person.  She was on the other side of the road so I didn't meet her yet.

Geese, rabbits, deer and a green heron were what I saw out there today and a couple of ponies that live a couple of blocks away from me.
I walked 6.1 miles and that was 11,419 steps.
**************************************
The kitchen cabinets here had no knobs or pulls for the drawers and cabinets and this morning we put most of them on. We guessed at the number we needed the other day when we bought them and were a bit short so we'll have to go back and buy some more.  It is so much easier to open the cabinets now.  I'm surprised the previous owners never put any on.

We went up to HT and got the book shelves and they are sitting in the library now.  They had a little damage to one of the units but nothing too bad that Ken can't fix.  I'll take a picture once they are in place and have the books in them.  It is amazing that they fit EXACTLY in the spot that I had pictured them in.
We also brought back the small maple book case and rocker that my grandmother gave to my mother.

The only other damage with the move we had was one of our Christmas plates got broken so I think we did pretty good.  The other mishap was that I got stung by a yellow jacket.  There was a nest on the railing of the deck.  The sting didn't hurt any worse than a regular bee but my hand did swell up a bit a few hours later but by the next day it was back to normal.  Ken took revenge for me and sprayed the nest and killed all the yellow jackets.

So are you waiting to hear how my lawn mowing experience went?  Actually it didn't go too badly.  At first I felt like I had no control and the machine just kind of took over.  I almost took out one of the forsythia bushes and made some crop circles in the grass, but slowly I gained some control and had fun.  There is an acre to cut and by the time I finished I was doing pretty good.  With some more practice I'll be an old hand at it.  Ken took a few pictures of me but I haven't taken them off his camera yet so tomorrow I'll post some pictures.

That's it for today.  Hope it was a good day for you too.

Ouch! Yellow jacket stings are the worst! I've never had one, thankfully, but my husband has.

Good for you and that mowing! Leave the forsythia, though.:-) We have almost an acre here to mow.

Have a good night!

I'm glad things continue to go well, except for that mean old yellow jacket! It's beautiful country up there; I'm glad you get out and enjoy it.

Ouchie...I hate stings and I got my first one this week after years and years of not having one. My upper arm is swollen and itchy. John cut down some hawthorn branches and came home stuck with thorns today. It's been a rough week.

Forget the pics after that mowing description. Now I want to see the movie!

Yeah it 'll just take a few times on your mower and you'll be a pro! Love the looks of your new home.

So good that you didn't have damage from your move. I had to smile at your description of your lawn mowing - especially when you said you made "crop circles." I am those mysterious "ET crop circles." Now maybe the mystery is solved - the ancients just had riding mowers! Have a great day tomorrow. See you then!

I'd love to have seen you making crop circles with the new lawnmower... ha ha ... Glad you got the hang of it though....

Sounds like you did well with very little damage from the entire move. That is awesome!!!!

Glad the yellow jacket sting wasn't too bad. Sometimes they can be!!!!

Have a great day tomorrow.
Hugs,
Betsy

Great to hear that there wasn't too much damage to contend to with your move.
Also great that the bookcases will fit in just as you had hoped.
Not so great about the bee sting, but glad Ken took care of that matter.
I'm hoping Ken got a picture of the near miss with the forsythia. Ha! No, really I give you a lot of credit for tackling that big lawnmower in the first place.
