Lots of leaves along all the paths now and when the slightest breeze came along leaves fell from the trees all around me as I walked. It was raining leaves. I tried to catch them as the came down and caught quite a few of them. That reminded me of my friend Bernice. When we were kids while we were walking - I did a lot of walking as a kid too : ) - we would try to catch the leaves. We said we would have good luck if we caught the falling leaves.
I walked the same connect the path route as I did yesterday.
I only saw one deer this morning and it was a little one. I didn't see mom anywhere about. I suppose she could have been around and I just didn't see her but with so many deer getting hit by cars I wonder if this one is on its own.
Only a few people about again walking dogs.
I passed by the crossing guard and she was in her car reading.
It was still cloudy when I got home and still 60 degrees.
I walked 6.3 miles.

I'm home during the day doing a bit of this and that. We are planning on leaving for Happy Trails later this afternoon when Ken gets home from work. The weather doesn't really look that promising up there but we decided to go anyway. Really want to get the siding done before the cold weather. It is supposed to be on the warm side so a little rain won't be too bad. I've been packing up some stuff to take along with us. Don't have all that much to pack because we can keep quite a lot of stuff up there in the trailer. I always take along the current book I'm reading and a knitting project.I've done a little cooking this morning.
In a little olive oil I've cooked up some onion, garlic, celery, yellow squash, and artichoke hearts.
Then added a can of tomatoes and cooked a couple minutes longer.
I've put it in the refrigerator and now on Saturday evening when we get back home, I just have to heat it up and make a bit of pasta to add to it. And supper is ready.Enjoy your day. My next post will probably be from MacDonald's parking lot tomorrow evening! : )
Till next time....

Comment reply from yesterday:
Auntie - My will power not to eat desserts until snack time takes a few different strategies. First, I keep a food journal and don't like to add extra items to it.
I think of how many miles I'd have to walk to take off those extra calories. (only 100 calories per mile.)
I say to myself, "Would you rather be thin or eat that?" Thin wins out.
If I really want to eat it, I go do something.
I don't deny myself goodies, I just put off having them until evening. I get to look forward to it all day and when I finally get to eat it, I enjoy every mouthful. : )
A piece of fruit or a handful of pretzels during the day is good if I really need something between meals. There was that too much detail?!! : ) Those are my willpower secrets. I think I'm just stubborn too and once I make up my mind not to eat it, I just stick to it.

I hope the sun shines for you at Happy Trails and you can get more of the siding on.
Hi Karen, Lots of leaves coming down here also... It is RAINING leaves.. AND--we are supposed to get some colder weather sometime this weekend.
I love love love your attitude about health, eating and willpower. Wish I had have done that ALL of my life -instead of waiting so long... Exercise is so important ---and I also keep a food journal. Keeps me accountable!!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
I always knew you had good willpower and now I know the secrets behind it. Very interesting. I do know that when I anticipate a special treat it always tastes better than when I just eat it any time the urge hits.
Hope the weather cooperates for you this weekend.
Hope that the weather turns out even better than you had hoped! Now that this "storm" they're scaring us with is looming...ackkk. Great tips for willpower. It might work for me if I weren't on a plan that says I can't have any snacks after supper. Shoot! I'd never get any at all. Some day I'll learn how to have good mental health without using food...perhaps all those endorphins you're getting from walking so many miles a day. Right. If I were thinner. Ha! I can see that this is a never-ending circle.
Thanks for passing along the ideas on willpower. A food journal sounds like a very good idea!
Enjoy Happy Trails!
Loved reading about your will power!
It sounds like you have some ambitious plans for the week-end. I hope the weather cooperates.
thanks for sharing your recipe and your willpower secrets. Have a good weekend. MJ
Great to have something nearly ready to eat, when you get home. Wise!
Wishing you good progress, on Happy Trails.
Thank you for your tips! That is the only way, to make/have a dessert around... Be determined to enjoy it, at the times you choose. :-)

I enjoyed your willpower secrets. My goodness, you go into a grocery store and there are so many temptations. I have good willpower if it is out of sight. But if I see something tasty, all bets are off. I also use that "100 calories a mile" one.
