I walked my connect the path route and walking along one of the path I came across this box turtle making his way through the water. I got a close shot of the turtle and posted it on my photo blog if you care to take a look. Poor thing looked a bit overwhelmed in the water so I helped him over the the side out of the water.
On another path I heard a rustling in the woods and one, two, three, four, five deer came out of the woods and crossed over to the other side just a little ways from me.
Crossing over one of the footbridges I stopped here to watch the water flow along. This is usually not more than a trickle. By this time the rain had stopped and you can see my umbrella closed up there leaning on the rail.
I had the sidewalks and paths pretty much to myself because of the rain and only saw two other people out walking. So many people just don't know what they're missing when they don't walk because it is raining. Its another world out there! : )
I walked 6.4 miles.

Yesterday we had to restock our ice cream supply. Looking over all the flavors I spotted a new one that I'd never seen before. I love Junior Mints and ice cream so I thought wow, this will be my new favorite. But it wasn't quite as good as I thought it would be. It was good but not good enough to replace chocolate chip mint!

I left for my Tuesday knitting group about 9:45. We were meeting back inside at the mill because of the weather.Driving there I had to pull over two different times for emergency vehicles - a fire truck and then later an ambulance. I always say a little prayer for these people as they pass by.
I've seen herons over by the lake many, many times but today one flew low just over the tops of the cars driving down the road. That was really cool.
There were 11 of us at knitting this morning and I worked making some weave-it squares. One of the women, Joan showed up with a loom and I gave her a lesson on making weave-it squares. Though she didn't think she was doing that well, I think she did great for just learning. I had to remind her that I've been making these squares since I was a kid! I'm sure she will be finishing her own projects in no time. : )
Home for lunch and then I had some routine house stuff to get done. Hopefully I'll have some time later to get some reading done. I do enjoy that late afternoon reading time.
Hope you have found your bit of happiness for the day.

Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.
It means you have decided to look beyond the imperfections.

Yes, that rain WAS really something wasn't it? I'm glad you saved that poor turtle.
And what could EVER take the place of mint chocolate chip ice cream??? :)
What a fun-filled morning you had!
Thanks for the happy thoughts.

Oh now that is a quote.
Standing on the bridge there looking at the water flowing between those green green banks and rows of trees...that is what peaceful looks like.
Another day of rain after today here and then perhaps some sun. One can hope!
How kind to give the turtle a helping hand. You have had a full day I hope you got time to enjoy your read.
So I guess there was nothing wrong with Joan's loom. I guess I was doing something wrong - but the for the life of me I don't know what it was.
Glad she was launch with a weave it!!
Hi Karen, There is something nice about walking in the rain. George and I have done ALOT of hiking in the rain --which is always fun...
Enjoy your ice cream!!! If you get Blue Bell up there, try the Banana Strawberry Shortcake.... YUM.
Hugs,
Betsy
Man, I miss those Maryland rainstorms! We had a few really rainy days here recently, but it's just not the same. :( It's not something you think you would miss!
RAIN PANTS!!! You just knew I'd what to know all about them, now didn't you?? ,-)
Please..... A picture... And a description...
Obviously have to be impervious to getting soaked, etc.
And they would eliminate one of the biggest "I-can't-walk-in-rain" excuses. ,-) Walking with wet pant legs sticking to ones legs/ankles, is not, not, not fun. -grin- Even if you are going to take them off, as soon as you get in the door.
Gentle hugs...
