Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A cool walk and a birthday

Yesterday after I got back from the commissary and put everything away I went out again.  Back to the library.  I had an audio book on hold and went to get it.  I got home and was going to listen to it while I did a few things in the kitchen and opened it up and realized that it wasn't CD's but cassette tapes! So after supper back to the library again to return it.  No big deal, I'll read the book.

Sunset 7:56
I had a very nice walk this morning.  It was cool and I walked along the sidewalks and at other times the paths.  I stayed away from the lake because I didn't want to be there with whatever event was going on with all the crowds. On one of the paths I spotted a deer.  He didn't stay around too long but long enough for me to get this picture.
A few people here and there, but for the most part I was alone.
I walked 7.5 miles this morning.  Tomorrow I'm going to try real hard to just walk 6 miles!!

I already have a couple loads of wash out on the line and I plan on spending the rest of the day at home.  Cleaning until lunch time and then I just might go up to the loft and get started on clearing it up.  Then it will be time for some knitting, weave-its and or reading.  In between doing this stuff I'll be on the computer every once in a while reading some blogs.

Today August 20 is my Dad's birthday.  He died back in 1999.  Today he would have been 89.  Just want to say Happy Birthday Daddy, I miss you!
He loved boats and here he is with one of his boats back in the 60's.

Enjoy your Friday!  Make it a good one.
Happyone :-)

I wasn't able to walk this morning. I was doing puppy duty and he wouldn't have understood being put in the crate so early in the day. Hopefully when my daughter gets here at dinner time, I can get a walk in then. It won't be all the cool, but better than not walking at all.

Wow - 7.5 miles! Is that your longest walk? How long does it take you to walk 7.5 miles.

It is a cool fresh day today. It must've been perfect for walking, but 7.5? Eat hearty today! Glad that you have happy memories of your dad...he must've walked a lot, too. You share the thin gene.

I'm loving these cool mornings. Our forecast is for 90's and high 80's for the next week, but the nights are to be all below 70. Yay! Conducive to gettin' out there and livin' right.

RT, No I've walked longer! It took me just about 2 hours. 6:30 - 8:30

Nice picture of your dad by the boats. It doesn't seem to matter how long they are gone, but we still miss them. My dad died in 2001 and I think of him every day.
Thanks for your comment today. Since I moderate comments (due to spam), I published yours and another one. For some reason yours isn't showing up and it won't let me publish it again. Darn that blogger. Just wanted to let you know that even though it isn't showing up, it is appreciated.
Have a wonderful weekend.

My dad was born in 1922 and died Oct. 1, 1991. It was like I never thought of him as "old"- will always miss him.
Wish it would cool off here! You seem to enjoy your walking so much! Enjoy the weekend!

I was touched with your sweet memory of your father on his birthday. It is always fitting to honor your parents even when and especially when time passes. Though they are physically gone, they are very near in our hearts. Thank you and have a great weekend!

(Saw that you are doing some sorting and reminiscing which I did yesterday, cleaning out my china cabinet to move it out of the diningroom and into the livingroom. We have a family of 6 coming to stay with us and I need the room around the table!)
