Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Steps

This morning was another one of those humid ones but I had a nice walk around the lake.  All those people from yesterday who didn't walk were out there today.  It appears that there will be another event at the lake this weekend.  There are markers in the water and they have put fences up along part of the path.  I think I'll stay away from the lake for the next few days.  I saw the white egret again,  he likes to stand at the waters edge in the water lilies.  I guess it is good fishing there!  A few bunnies were eating at the edge of the path.  Some of them are quite small. The black duck and the white goose are still hanging out together.
I walked 6.7 miles.  I have been walking a little over 6 miles lately.  The main reason for this is that I have joined a website where you keep track of your steps for the day.  Most people try for 10,000 steps a DAY.  I am just keeping track of the steps I take on my walk.  I gave myself a goal of 12,000 steps which is about 6 miles for me.  So now I've become a bit obsessed with the steps I take and try to surpass that goal each day.  Today my steps were 13,774.  I'm trying hard not to leave my pedometer on for the whole day because then who knows where I'll end up walking!! :-)
This morning I'll be going to the commissary.  I still have to make up my list so I'd better go to that and have some breakfast.
Have a great Thursday.
Happyone :-)

Good idea not to leave it on all day...you could wind up like Ellen's grandmother!

Your comment about not walking near the lake is so simple and so subtle. No angst. No arggghhhs. I need to calm down. :D

I'm very impressed with the miles you walk each day.

My pedometer is my friend. Today I thought about taking a day of rest, but then I thought I wouldn't reach 10,000 for the day without that walk. So I went out and I was glad I did. It was pretty nice and my body was happy that I did. Of course, I keep mine on all day because I haven't reached the high levels that you have for your daily walk. You are inspirational.

I am smiling at Vee's comment about Ellen's grandmother.
I have a pedometer around here somewhere. You have inspired me to go find it.

I need to find my pedometer, too. It's kind of fun to track the number of steps you take in a day.

As I passed the lake this morning I noticed quite a line of porta potties. I wondered what they were for!
