Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

I never did make it to the commissary this morning. I was just going to read for a little while before I left and kept reading until I finished the book. In my defense, it was a rainy day and perfect for reading. I can just go the commissary tomorrow! I read Echoes of the Dance by Marcia Willett. Another great book by her. She writes of the English countryside and the people who live there. Each of her books can be read on their own but they continue with the same characters so it's nice to read them in the order she wrote them. I enjoyed this one and all the others and look forward to reading the next one. The next book I read though won't be one of hers, I have a pile of others to read first!
A quote from the book:
"You love Nat, I know that, but are you in love with him?"
"I dunno. What's the difference?"
"Of loving and being in love? Oh, all the difference in the world. It's the difference between madness and peace. Between ecstasy and contentment. If you have to ask you've never been in love."

I did manage to do a little around the house but I admit not much! :-)

Since I didn't go shopping, we had nothing good to eat for supper so we went out to Red Robin and had fish and chips. Didn't that work out well?!!

Kenny dropped me off at church afterwards for my ladies Bible study. I was going to walk home, but it was still raining out and Kenny was there to pick me up.
When we got home, we watched some television, ate ice cream and once again I knitted. I'll read until bedtime.

Goodnight all!
Happyone :-)

  2. Sounds like a good day, Karen. BTW, running in the Anchorage Marathon is also Nature's way of feeding mosquitoes. They were the only wildlife I saw for 26.2 miles back in '05! ;)

  3. You, my dear, are a brilliant thinker! Read all day, no housework, and nothing for supper and you get to eat out. Perfect formula! I'm going to try it very soon myself. ;>
