Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Up and out first thing this morning for my walk. I went around the lake once again and walked 6 miles. It was 30 degrees but the sun was out and there was no wind. A beautiful morning!! I don't usually walk the lake on Saturday because of all the runners. A running club runs then and there are LOTS of runners. Today I walked in the opposite direction that I normally walk which was the same direction of the runners. That turned out to be a good idea because I could just walk to the right and let them all pass me. When they come at me they have a tendency to take up the whole path and I end up on the grass. Here is one of MANY groups that passed me this morning. As the runners pass me I hear snippets of their conversations and its fun to make up stories from that one sentence. Here are some of snippets I heard today.
  • I told my neighbor there was no way I could do that.
  • I wonder why she would even want him around.
  • He was pissed at me because he knew I knew.
  • My son is great.
  • If they would only go by the rules.

Here's a couple of Mallard ducks.
The picture is grainy because I used the zoom. It kind of looks like a painting.

When I left for my walk Ken left to go to the old house and took the collapsed car port apart now that the snow has melted off it. All the pieces are piled up and ready to be hauled away. He was finished by lunch time. He also got both of his cars washed. Mine is still dirty. I'll probably wash mine Monday.
I spent most of the day at home reading, knitting and being on the computer.

We had pizza subs and a Greek salad for supper.
Hope your Saturday was a good one for you.

I like the "rippley" water. And I love your quote - that would be a very big disappointment for me because I love my ice cream!

I'll bet you could have made up some great stories from those sentences you heard! I'm glad you didn't get run over by the runners.

Hi DEAR KAREN,

I love the thoughts you put here.. yesterday's was good and today's is really good... That picture of the ducks do look like someone painted them... and the idea of making up stories from one sentence is interesting.. i can use it now...

Oh-oh! Have you lost an ice cream cone recently? :D

The ducks on the water pic is wonderful. The texture of the ripples is particularly pleasing to me.

The runners don't own the paths. Make them run on the grass!!!

I don't understand runners. Seems to me they can move over much easier when approaching someone from behind. People don't have eyes in the back of their heads!

I like your duck picture and all the ripple effects. The light gives it a warm feel.
