The morning I got some work done around the house - just the usual chores.Sunset 6:04

In the afternoon I walked over to Lillemor's house, which is only one mile from my house. Adding those two miles to my morning walk I walked a total of 8 miles today. She is a friend I met at the Wednesday night knit group. It was supposed to be an afternoon of knitting and tea and though we did drink tea, and showed each other what we were knitting and talked about some future projects we didn't get any knitting done. :-) That's okay because it was a very nice afternoon visit. Lillemor, who is from Sweden made a Swedish cake from a family recipe. The cake tasted exactly like the brownies I bake. Turns out that it is the exact same recipe. Her cake she makes in a round cake pan and is a flat cake. My brownie recipe is double the size and I bake it in a 9 x 12 inch baking pan. I got the recipe from a friend years ago and the recipe came from her grandmother. I wonder now if her grandma was Swedish too!!
I was back home just before Ken came home from work. We had supper at Red Robin (fish and chips) and after wards stopped at a couple of stores.
Once at home we watched an episode of The #1 Ladies Detective Agency. I finally did some knitting :-) and had a couple of cookies.
Here is picture number 4 of the snow pile out back by our driveway. It's looking more like a dirt pile now, but its shrinking every day. This next week a lot of it should melt, because its supposed to be sunny and in the 50's for the next few days.
I hope this Friday was a good ending to your week and you enjoyed your day.
Happyone :-)

Sounds like a lovely afternoon!
Interesting story about the cake...I'd like to have that brownie recipe of yours for my Swede. Sounds like a fun afternoon and the next time you get together, perhaps you'll knit and chat.
Yes, I did go for my walk. It wasn't far...around the block and a bit further. I nearly fell into some pot holes. A car could fall in and be half gone from sight. ;>
That snow pile will be gone very soon with those nice temps. It's supposed to be in the 50s here this weekend, too, but then a cooling trend.
What a coincidence about the cake and the brownies. Not only is your pile of snow shrinking, I can see some grass in the background. Signs of hope!
HI Dear Karen,
It makes me feel good to read your journal.... and being able to know even the smallest of things about you and your life there... I guess everyone has the relationship that your brownie and the cake share....
The thought at the end of the post is beautiful...
Hi Karen,
Some say there are no such things as coincidences. I love the cake/brownie connection. I'm glad you've found a friend in Lillemor.
I'm wondering what your Saturday has been like?
i loved the "first ladies detective" books,
but can't seem to find the movies in my
blockbuster.
will keep looking.
It sounds like you had a lovely afternoon with Lillemor (pretty name) even if you didn't get around to knitting. That's an interesting coincidence about the brownie recipe.
Your snow pile definitely looks like it is on it's way out.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
