Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Baking Day

A walk around the lake in the rain for me this morning. It rained the whole time, but I took along my umbrella and wore my rain slicker and rain pants so stayed warm and dry. There were a few other people out as well, but not many. The deer, ducks and geese didn't seem to mind the rain either. I took 13,074 steps on this mornings walk.
Here just a picture I took while walking.

I was going to clean this morning but just never got around to it. I ended up reading and knitting.

By afternoon I really didn't feel like cleaning but I did feel like baking so that's what I did. As I listened to George Guidall read Foreign Body by Robin Cook to me I baked three loaves of Pumpkin Bread (my recipe makes three) and Chocolate Chip cookies.
After the baking was done I knitted a white square while George finished reading me the book. I thought the book was a good one. Jennifer Hernandez goes to New Delhi after her grandmother dies there after having hip replacement surgery. She uncovers a series of deaths.

I thought about not going to my knitting group this evening because it was still raining out and I hate to drive in the rain in the dark. But then I thought I've been home all day and it would be nice to get out for awhile and I shouldn't let a little rain keep me home so out I went. I stopped off at the library on my way there to drop off a couple of things but it was closed for Veterans Day. I'll have to make that trip again tomorrow.
I'm glad I went to the knitting group. Nice to see my knitting friends. :-) I just knitted on a dish cloth because they are easy and I didn't have to count stitches.
Its nice to be back home now though where its dry and warm.
I'll watch a little television and then read until I go to bed.

I hope you all had a good Wednesday and even if it was raining outside you found your own sunshine.
Karen :-)

Pumpkin bread and chocolate chip cookies. Just the aroma would be enough to get me salivating!

It was a good day to make soup. If I had baked, I would have eaten the goods. So....

Isn't today so nasty. I'm at Borders, overlooking the parking lot, and it's just awful. I'm sure you walked anyway.

Sometimes filling the house with the sweet smells of pumpkin bread and cookies also fills the soul!
