Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

Along the walking paths

I took these pictures on my walk this morning.
How pretty the paths look now with green all around.
The splash of purple stands out nicely in all the green.
Lots of deer out this morning and
this one stayed to get her picture taken.
I spent a big part of the afternoon separating all the different colors of floss for my big cross stitch project. There are 46 different colors but they made it pretty easy to do by putting them in 4 separate bundles. The colors that were hard to tell apart were not in the same bundle. Each bundle was marked by putting in a different color of knitting yarn. I used a punch to cut holes in each color on the card and then put the corresponding color floss on through the hole on the card. I didn't have a round hole punch but the Christmas tree hole punch worked just as good. :-) After sorting out all the floss I didn't feel like cross stitching. I'll start it another day.
The workers are putting up the cinder block on the townhouse row in front of ours. After working for two days in the hot sun they have done this much so far. It wasn't so long ago that I was watching my own townhouse being built!

After supper we sat out on the deck for a while. Even though it was hot during the day the evening was nice and cool with a breeze.

I certainly enjoyed my snack of ice cream tonight - it's been a good many days since I had any. Today I ate good old Chocolate Chip with a topper of Cookies and Cream Supreme.

Did a bit of reading and knitting this evening too.

I hope this Tuesday was a happy one for you.
Happyone :-)

  1. Always a special day when a deer comes walking by. That one definitely looks healthy.

Is the purple tree a 'redbud'? We have loads of them here.

That was quite a project, sorting your floss colors and getting them organized. I used to do counted cross-stitch years ago. (Now my close-up vision is kapoot!) For me, it was an excellent way to relax. I may have to try a small project again and get a magnifier!

Sounds like yours was a fairly perfect day. :)

  2. I'm glad you had an opportunity to enjoy your deck and a balmy breeze. Sounds heavenly.

  3. Your walking path certainly looks like spring! I must admit I'm glad I didn't read this last night -- your snack would have made me hungry!!

  4. That deer... the lavender against the green...wonderful images. Your project looks daunting.

It really wasn't that long ago that you were watching the progress on your own home. Do you see a lot of folks driving by to see the progress on this one yet?

  5. Lindy - yes they are redbud trees. Lots around here too and I love the color.

Vee- Yes, we do see people coming to see their townhouses being built. We've met the people directly across from us. A young couple - came to look with one of their mothers who was younger than we are!! :-)

  6. Such pretty pictures from your walk this morning and I like your new header pic too. You appear to be well organized to begin your cross stitch project. I hope we will get to see the completed work. Sitting out on the deck sounds very relaxing and the ice cream sounds good too.
