Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Smart Car

A cool crisp clear morning for my walk today. Not many people about but here is one of the black squirrels. I usually see them in the woods but this one was in some one's yard up the street. The picture is not that good but you can tell it's a black one alright. The other day we saw a Smart Car parked down the street by the mill so I got out the camera and took a few of pictures of it. I've seen a few of them driving around but this is the first red one I've seen. Look at the sidewalk squares and you can tell how tiny this car is.
Got a kick out of the license plate too.
As we were taking our pictures the owner of the car came back and she said she loved her Smart Car. On the windshield there was a little tiny red Smart car that someone put there. They even put a little cloth down first so as not to scratch the window. Isn't it the cutest little thing!? I wonder if this person goes around putting them on all the Smart cars he or she sees. I have just finished reading another one of Alexander McCall Smith's books.
This one was the third one in the 44 Scotland Street series, Love Over Scotland.
The story continues with all the regular characters living on Scotland Street, with Bertie, the 6 year old being my favorite. I love these books!! Here is a quote from the book. A friend of Angus dies and this is what he says about him. "I suspect that Scotland is full of people like Ramsey. They are people whose lives never amount to very much in terms of achievement. They are not celebrated or feted in any way. But there they are, doing their best, showing good will to others, not cheating in any way, supporting the public good. These people are the backbone of the country and we should never forget that." Alexander McCall Smith is writing a book called Corduroy Mansions and he is writing a chapter a day and you can read it on line. He started it in September and will finish it in February. Click on the link if you want to check it out. This morning I dropped off a couple of books at the library and picked up the latest book in The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series called The Miracle at Speedy Motors. It's the 9th book. I also stopped at Wal-mart and bought a few more long sleeve turtle neck shirts. The first layer for my layered look that I usually wear. My belly is telling me that it's lunch time so off I go to eat. Afterwards I plan on going outside to get started on the front yard. Dead flowers to cut down and leaves to rake and bag. A very Happy Monday to everyone.

I've thought about having a car like that to run around Columbia, but I get a little claustrophobic just looking at it...
You certainly got a lot done today!

I enjoy my smart car and it really saves on my 53 mile trip to work. PS Plenty of room for groceries. Or what $100 will by these days.

I've seen a few of the smart cars and have been curious about what it feels like to drive them. They are cute and the tiny one on the windshield was even cuter.
Your book sounds good. I have only read one of his books.

Have a nice day,
Kim

I have never in my life seen a black squirrel. As a matter of fact, you won't find any squirrels around her unless you go up onto the mountain where there are some trees. Just don't have 'em!
I really like Smart Cars but fear by big caboose would not fit well into one! LOL!! I'd never seen a red one either. We don't have many around here, but I've seen one or two tooling around town.

I love random things like someone leaving a model car, of a car on that persons car. Random acts of kindness are so neat.

I wouldn't mind driving that little red car... I hate parking!

There are quite alot of smart cars in the UK now and if a parking space is very small I have even seen them parked with the back bumper towards the kerb and the front facing the opposite side of the road!
I'm just starting on those McCall-Smith books, just bought 44 Scotland Street. Thanks for the review.

Nice little car but I prefer my VW golf.

And now gas is back below $2 ... but the big advantage to that car is in parking. That makes it extra smart.

I love your photo of the black squirrel. I've never seen one before!

I'm going to have to check out those Scotland Street books. And thanks for the link to "Corduroy Mansions."

Those little Smart Cars are so cute!
