Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

It was very quiet and still when I was out early this morning. It was colder than it has been - only 40 degrees. No breeze at all though and the sun came out. A great morning for walking.

I think Proverbs is a fun book of the BIble to read.
Here are some that I like.

3:3 Do not let kindness and truth leave you.

3:27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.

15:13 A joyful heart makes a cheerful face.

15:17 Better is a dish of vegetables where love is, than a fattened ox and hatred with it.

16:3 Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

16:9 The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

16:24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

16:31 A gray head is a crown of glory.

17:22 A joyful heart is good medicine.

20:17 Bread obtained by falsehood is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.

21:23 He who guards his mouth and his tongue, guards his soul from trouble.

26:11 Like a dog that returns it its vomit, is a fool who repeats his folly.

31:10 An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.

Hope you enjoyed reading the proverbs. Do you have a favorite one?

May your Sunday be one of happiness!!

  1. I really enjoyed reading the Proverbs. 26:11 is mentioned in Shakespeare's HENRY V. Very interesting. My favorite is 3:27.

  2. Mine is one of the best known, I guess. Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs and Psalms are great OT books to read. I like them both a lot.

  3. I love reading Proverbs. Great rules to live by!
