Up and out early taking my morning walk as usual.  It was sunny, 48 degrees and beautiful.  A random walk today.  Headed out on the main road toward Happy Trails,

passed up the HT road and went straight for a while.  Then turned around and on the way back did turn up the HT road but only walked up to where the three dogs live.  Then it was back to town and up and down the roads.

I saw Peggy again but we were going opposite ways on different sides of the road so just said hi.

I saw a deer.  They usually keep themselves pretty well hidden so it is nice to see one once in awhile.

These pretty purple weeds (flowers) are along a lot of roads especially where there is a little stream flowing.

I walked 6.1 miles.

Pancakes for breakfast.  Not at Annie's Kitchen today, but homemade ones.  Though Annie's are special I like good old Bisquick ones too.

Another pretty day with a bright blue sky but today not a cloud in the sky and I spent a lot of it outside.  Did some weeding and divided up some of the daisies out front by the road and planted some in the places where I dug up the shrubs.

In the afternoon I was all set to mow the lawn but it was just not to be.  The back tire on the rider mower was flat and I filled it with air.  In a few minutes I could see that the tire was losing air.  The problem I realized was not with the tire but with the wheel.  The valve stem was bad and leaking air. I tried duct tape around the bottom of the valve but that didn't work.  Ken is not at home this afternoon so I'll wait until he gets home and he can deal with it.  I was annoyed that I couldn't get the mowing done but then thought there must be some reason why I'm not supposed to mow the lawn today.  There is always tomorrow. : )

Ken left for his adventure at 6:15 this morning and that's when I headed out for my walk.  After a rainy night it was 60 degrees and still cloudy but eventually the sun came out.
I walked the farm loop.  In the picture you can see that the hay as been cut and now awaits to get rolled up.

The corn has started to sprout in some of the cornfields and is about 4 inches now.

I usually see some red winged black birds but today there were a lot more than usual.  Also saw a few bobolinks again.

Walked around town too and came across the woman walking the German Shepherd again.  This time we stopped to talk.  Her name is Peggy and the dog is Saxson.  She owns the B & B that is for sale that I mentioned the other day.  She told me they are selling the house but keeping some land to build a smaller house closer to the road for themselves.  Peggy likes to talk and told me a lot about herself already especially for just meeting her. She is nice and has invited me to stop up at the house for a cup of tea sometime.

As always enjoyed my walk.
A little farther than usual today and walked 7 miles.

The day has turned out to be a beautiful one.  Lots of sunshine, blue skies and big puffy white clouds, and 65 degrees.
A good day for clothes drying on the line and mine were out there blowing in the breeze.
Did house stuff in the morning and read my Bible this morning sitting on the front porch.

After lunch I went outside and started on a project I've been wanting to do for quite a while.  I have 6 dining room chairs to paint and today I painted 4 of them.  White, green, and two blue chairs are now black.  The other two are up at HT in the shed and I'll paint them another time.  It is nice to have 4 chairs that match.

It was too nice to go inside so I did some weeding in the gardens and pulled up two more shrubs.  I can't believe how many shrubs we have dug up and there are still plenty left.  I like things much better thinned out and now there is some room for flowers.

I've done enough work for today so now I think I will relax and read my book.

What a great place to be a cow. : )

This morning I walked around the farm loop and then around town.  The temperature was 60 degrees and there were sun and clouds, some of the clouds were hanging very low and I got to walk through them.
The sun is shining where I'm walking and you can see the low hanging clouds ahead.  After walking through the cloud I was back in the sun again.

Here is the red barn I always walk past but today the picture is of the side of it as I walk by.

Then I walked up to the door and took a picture of the inside of the barn.

I saw a fox this morning and the first one I've seen around here.  I used to see them quite often where I used to live.  The one today was coming down the street on the opposite side I was, and at first I thought it was a dog.  Then it ran across the street and chased a squirrel.  I thought he would get it but the squirrel made it up the tree.  I was rooting for the fox.  Then the fox spotted me and ran farther in the woods.  It all happened in a matter of seconds so didn't get to take any pictures.

I walked 6.3 miles.
Oh by the way, the month of May I only found 3 cents.

Right after breakfast we went out to get a few errands done.
Then Ken dropped me off home so I could get some things done around the house and he went up to HT to get the ATV loaded in the back of the truck for his trip tomorrow for a day of doing men stuff with some friends. : )  I whipped up a batch of Chocolate Chippers for him to share with the guys.

There are eight of these pretty bushes growing by the shed in my yard.  The flowers I think look like azaleas but the leaves don't look right.  Does any one know what it is?

The Pumpkin Patch

It was a cloudy morning and the temperature was 60 degrees when I walked.  No special route today, just a random walk all over the place.  It felt like rain and the last couple of miles there was a very light drizzle on and off.  Just enough to get me damp and help me stay cool.

Lots of iris plants blooming all around to add some more color to my walk. : )

I came across a woman walking her German Shepherd a few times.  First time I've ever seen her.

A couple of rabbits were chasing each other around over by one of the cemeteries so I'm sure there will be a few others before too long.

I stopped in at the Laundromat and put up a flyer to tell invite people to Bible School this summer at my church.  Also made a stop at the post office with a Netflix and dropped it in the mail slot.

I walked 6.2 miles.

It rained some this morning but by lunch time it was starting to clear up and after lunch we went outside to work on getting the pumpkin patch ready and by then the sun was shining.

Here is Ken yesterday getting the first cut in with the tractor.  Sure is handy having the tractor to take up the VERY thick sod.

 Just before quitting time it looked like this.

Today we worked on getting the dirt and the grass separated from each other.  We worked on it all afternoon, Ken a little longer than I did.  Ken took a load of sod up to HT in the truck and dumped it up there.  As you can see in the picture we still have more to do.  At the end of the day, this is what we got done.

We were hoping to finish removing the sod so we could plant the pumpkin seeds but there just was not enough time in the day.

I got a bit of a sunburn on my shoulders which has that itchy burning feeling now.  I don't even remember the last time I got sunburn.

I'm looking forward to some chocolate chip mint ice cream later.  Until then I will be reading blogs.

OE - My son David lives 5 1/2 hours away so no, he doesn't often walk with me.  Sunday was only the second time walking with him here.  I slow him down, he usually runs a lot farther than I walk.

Yesterday morning David walked along with me on my walk.  We walked all around town.
Today I was back on my own.  It was 58 degrees with a mix of clouds and sun and I walked the Farm Loop/Town route.

I saw Lisa a couple of times walking in town and we stopped to talk one of the times.  She usually runs but hurt her leg so has to walk for a while.

I saw a cute little chick a dee sitting in a bush and got really close to it, but it flew away before I could get a picture.

Didn't see Farmer Bill but it looks like he's in the middle of building a chicken coop.  Maybe I'll be seeing some more chickens one day soon. 

Another farmer was on his tractor rolling hay.  I didn't realized they did that in spring too.  Didn't get the tractor but you can see the rolled hay.  I like the smell of it.  To the right and down from the middle of the picture you can see some red and black on the fence post.  I took two pictures, this one and one right after and the red and black wasn't there.  I'm thinking maybe it is two red winged blacked birds.  Can't really tell though.

As always so nice to be outside early taking a walk.

David and the grands left yesterday morning while we were at church to go back home.  It was the last visit probably for quite a while because David's ex-wive is getting married next month and taking the kids to Oklahoma.  That sounds so far away.

David and Scout helped us eat more of 'the cake' and now there are four pieces left which we put in the freezer.  Surprisingly, Japhy didn't want any cake!!!!  He ate a couple of mozzarella cheese sticks instead.  And both of them don't like milk!! 

We watched a movie last night from Netflex that was very good,
Something the Lord Made.  Based on the true story of a white surgeon Alfred Blalock and his black assistant, Vivien Thomas who teamed up to develop a procedure to save children suffering from a heart defect.

We went out and did a couple of errands today and then I dropped Ken off at HT, drove the truck home and he drove the tractor to the house and started on making his pumpkin patch.  He's outside right now digging up the lawn out back.  I'll have some pictures tomorrow.

I'm going back outside in just a bit to see how he's doing.
