Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Walking and Kayaking

Another beautiful morning for walking with the sun shining and no wind.

Walked around both of the cemeteries.

No rain around but saw rainbow colors in the sky.

Walked over to the ball park and around the loop
and then back to the Jeep.
Picked up a DVD out of the Jeep and went down the main road in town.

Turned off and went to the library and put the DVD down the drop.

Continued around town some more and eventually made it back
to the pond.
It was so nice out that I walked a little bit farther than usual.

Most days I walk down here to the pond and look over the water
and say a word of thanks to God for another day.

😊    🥾    ☀️    🌸

The weather was so nice today.
Sunny and 70 so we decided to go kayaking at the Savage River Reservoir.

We have arrived at the reservoir and the kayaks await getting in the water.

Started paddling on very calm water,

just like glass.

We paddled to the beginning where the water comes in.

Then it was time to paddle back again.
The wind had picked up a bit and it was a little choppy.

Had a wonderful time out on the water.
Saw a mama duck and her 2 babies.
Tried to get a picture but I couldn't get close enough.
They kept swimming away from me and didn't want to frightened them.
Also saw a couple of frogs down by where the water comes in.
and some turkey buzzards soaring gracefully high up in the blue sky.

We really need to do this more often!!!!

Hope you had a wonderful day.
Thanks so much for visiting.

Ginny - No, didn't have my umbrella walking yesterday but sometimes it's nice to get wet in the rain. :)  It stopped in time for me to dry off by the time I was done walking.

Debby - No, not publishing my blog in the morning, still around 4:30 just before supper time.  Sometimes blogger just doesn't update right away. You can come directly to my blog and it will be updated.  Just doesn't update to reading lists.

What a lovely relaxing day you had. It's the sort of day we all need occasionally.

What is it like to walk near a cemetery while, at the same time, the view and the surrounding nature evoke a completely different feeling? I experienced that for the first time in England, where the cemeteries were vast stretches of beautifully green land that people could walk through. Because we're not used to that in Greece, my brain didn't quite know what it was supposed to feel. One moment there was the awareness of death, and the next there was peace, beauty, and life all around me. It was a very unusual and thought-provoking experience.

Your pictures are amazing, Karen! I enjoyed seeing the pictures from around your town. The library looks like an inviting place to spend time.

Karen, your kayaking looks so peaceful. You live in such a scenic place. I'm wondering...how hot does it get in the summer? I'm sure you've mentioned this before, but I can't recall.

Such a sunny and bright morning walk! Yippee for kayaking, too. It's nice that you both can still get in and out of those kayaks. Me...not so much. :)

Your kayaking looked calming and peaceful. I would not want to kayak our river. Too much traffic. Janice
