Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Reading this afternoon

It was a cloudy morning for walking and 65 degrees
with a little wind.
On the way to town I saw a few rabbits run up the road.
A pileated woodpecker was standing in the middle of the road.

Walked around both of the cemeteries.

Then down the road towards home and turned onto Barn Sale Road.

Walked back through town and over to the ball park and waked that loop.
Then up and down some side streets and back to the parking lot
at the pond.

Rebecca was out walking around the cemetery.
When I got back to the Jeep two ladies were getting out of a car.
One of them said Hi Karen, we see you walking every day.
We're out for a short walk.
I have no idea who these ladies were!!

Left the house after breakfast and went to Walmart
for this weeks food shopping.
Thinking about going to the Walmart in Lavale but we didn't
need all that much so decided to go the one in Oakland as usual.

Didn't plan on reading all afternoon but started another
book and just kept reading!!
Three Weeks to Say Goodbye by C. J. Box.

Thanks for coming by.
Hope you had a wonderful day.

The thing about starting a good book in the afternoon is that
you don't get anything done the rest of the day.🙂

The pileated woodpecker is a majestic bird!
Bob came with me for a short walk today and I thought of you because it was cloudy when we left and we ended up getting rained on. I told him Karen walks in the rain, I guess we can too!
Your comment about starting a good book is so true!

The two ladies who could call you by name probably read your blog. That would be awesome! :)

The sky in that first picture is amazing. I hate when someone greets me by name and I have no idea who they are.

65 and cloudy is literally the perfect walking weather. Love that you got to see so much wildlife on your loop today! And hey, spending the whole afternoon reading instead of doing chores is the absolute best way to spend a quiet day. Enjoy the book, Karen!

How cool to see the Woodpecker. I usually just hear them. Am staying inside. We are having a heat wave with the possibility of strong storms coming in this afternoon and tomorrow. I am staying inside myself. Janice

I can never keep track of the walking you do all around town! But I'm impressed.

Wonderful sky to be walking under at that time. I think it adds to the whole experience. And how beautiful to communicate with people you don't know, it sounds like a very welcoming place!

The sky is so pretty. You must be locally famous for someone you don't know to know you name!

The other day on my walk, I came across a snake. He was trying desperately to get away from me - poor little guy.

Haha, I made the mistake of starting a new jigsaw puzzle and that does not help productivity for anything else!
