Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Thump

Once again we have more snow, 15 degrees and windy. 🌨️ ☃️
Not a good walking in town day so I was stuck in the basement walking again.
At least I have a place to walk.

A day for washing sheets and getting started on the weekly house cleaning.

We heard a thump and went to see if it was a bird flying into the glass door.
It was. The downy woodpecker stayed there in the snow for a little while and then flew away unhurt.  It went back to the feeder.  He likes the suet best.

I've been reading The Widow by John Grisham.  It is pretty slow moving, not a page turner but still has kept my interest.  Will finish it later.

Did some knitting this afternoon too.

Ken went outside to clear the driveway with the tractor again only this time the tractor wouldn't start.  Some switch is frozen and needs to thaw out.  Since we had no place we had to go so he didn't worry about it today.

This story that our Pastor told us made us laugh.
He knocked on a door in town and when a man answered the door, Pastor introduced himself and invited him to church.
The man responded with,
Oh I've heard of you and your church.  You always preach from the Bible and try to get everyone saved.
What the man meant as a criticism Pastor took as a compliment and said, That's true, thank you.
The man closed the door.

Well that's all I have for today.
Hope you had a wonderful day.

Hi Karen, when I first saw the title of this post I read "Trump" instead of "Thump" LOL! Glad I was mistaken! What a lovely bird, dear friend! Yes, I have heard that the birds love suet in the winter! Thank you so much for sharing your posts.

I'm glad to hear that the Downy is okay. I bet it made quite the thump when it hit.

I believe we are in for a cold night tonight. Stay warm and safe

The pastor was right to take that as a compliment. I want all my friends to be saved so we can meet again in heaven. I put a nonadhesive butterfly decal on my glass door so birds would not hit it; I am happy the bird is ok.

A cute story! It always amazes me how a bird can fly so hard into a window, yet still be able to fly away!!

Poor little woodpecker thought he'd come indoors since it was so cold outside :)

I've had birds fly into my sliding glass door too. It's always a relief when they fly away.

Truth be known, that was a wonderful compliment. I hope that gentleman come to know Christ soon. I saw an ad for the Widow last night and gave some thought about reading it. I hope you'll post more about it when you finish reading it. Hope your staying warm, have a day.

I always feel so terrible when a bird flies onto one of our big windows!

We have stickers on or glass doors to deter the birds flying into them, but we still have the odd one hit them.
