Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

ABC Friday

18 degrees and cloudy this morning but no wind
so it didn't seem that cold.
Sunrise 7:28

I had 3 books to bring to the library to drop down the slot
so walked there first.
Then continued walking around down and back behind
our old house in town.
Also walked around the ball park loop and both of the cemeteries.

There was just snow and no ice so it wasn't slippery.

Spotted some tracks in the snow of deer, rabbits, and I think a raccoon.

Didn't see any people about town.
Just the usual cars, trucks, and buses.

So glad I was able to walk outside after having to stay inside yesterday.

☁️    ☃️   🎄

I made us French toast when I got home for breakfast.

Two other new birds have been at the feeder today.
A bunch of House Finches and a Cardinal.

One of the stitching ladies from the library has been trying
to knit a Sophie Scarf for herself and not having much luck with it.
She really wants one so I'm going to surprise her and make one for her.
Started it this afternoon and hoping to finish it by the end of the day.
Would like to give it to her tomorrow.

MY ABC'S

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Sometimes pictures, sometimes just words but it will be something about me.

L is for Lunch
I thought about library for the letter L but since you
all know how much I like the library decided to go with a different word.

Lunch is our mid day meal and one I look forward to.
My favorite Lunch when I was a kid was like a lot of kids
a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
When I was in grade school I lived close enough to come
home for lunch.
My mom was at work so most days I would make a PB&J for lunch.
(Hard to imagine in this day and age that a kid comes
home and makes lunch for themselves)
I must admit it is still one of my favorite lunches.
Another favorite lunch is Nachos which Ken makes for me.
Other Lunches I like.
Baked potato and salad
Sweet Potato
Grilled cheese
Though I don't usually like leftovers (there's another L word)
the ones I do like are
Pizza
Roasted Vegetables
Tuna Casserole or mac and cheese.

It sure was nice to see some sunshine this afternoon.

Hope your Friday was a happy one.
Thanks for dropping by.

Mari - Our little library in town does have a good selection of DVD's.  They don't have all the seasons of the shows but you can reserve them and they will get what you want from other libraries.  Same thing with books. They have even gone out of state to get me a book that I wanted.  We have a great library!!!!

You likely grew up when I did. Kids could go outside and play all day and the parents never needed to worry about them. You are so generous with your knitting! The cemetery looks so sad and lonesome in the snow. Not even any birds.

There was a time when I walked home for lunch - Mom would be there with a hot bowl of soup and a sandwich. It was so nice for me to be able to touchbases with home - The problem being once I was home I hated going back and would cry. The next year, I ate at school, and mom worked in the cafeteria every Friday.

I am glad you are getting new 🐦 🐦‍⬛ to your feeder, Karen. I ❤️ finches and cardinals. I also got out and walked today. It was sunny, cold 🥶 and windy. Didn't take any photos this time, will try again tomorrow.
Your pictures are very nice.

I still like a peanut butter and jelly for lunch. When I was growing up it went with a glass of milk, but now it's a cup of coffee, usually decaf at lunch. My other favorite is a grilled cheese.

Our library just started a knitting/crochet group that meets every Thursday. My wife loves it and helps people who need some guidance. There are 5-6 people who participate.

I'm glad to hear that it wasn't slippery on your walk.
Your friend is going to love your scarf, you're very fast, I could never make one in a day :)

You do have a good library!
I like your little smiley face in the snow. That barn photo is really a pretty shot.
The stitching lady will be thrilled with the scarf. You're doing that one fast!
Bob often makes himself a grilled cheese for lunch. I haven't had a PB&J for some time. I need to try that again.

A cardinal at the birdhouse is wonderful... and a bit of fresh snow in December is simply magnificent.

Always nice when there isn't a wind.
I wonder if kids are even allowed to go home for lunch these days. I'm betting not.
I love pb and j sandwiches.

Days gone by with kids walking home for lunch. These days there probably isn't enough time allotted for lunch. Glad to read that you could walk in town today. Hope you were able to finish that scarf!

How fortunate you were to have a Cardinal come to your feeder!!
Nachos are a favourite here too but we don't have them often.
I'm amazed that you could knit a scarf in such a short time!!!
