It was 17 degrees this morning and windy with snow showers.
I decided not to walk in town because thought there might
be some slippery places.
There would be a time when that wouldn't have mattered but
now that I'm older I don't want to take the chance of falling.
So had to make due with walking loops around the basement.
I lift some light weights and do stretching exercises three
times a week and did that too.

Last week when I was looking for those old pictures on a DVD
(which I never found)
one of the things I came across was this article from a local
NJ newspaper from July of 1943
about my dad and his two brothers.
All three of them were in the Army at the same time.
My dad is Robert, the one in the middle.
Must have been a worrying time for Gramma!
After my dad's furlough he was sent to England.
Jimmy Steward was the commanding officer at the base he was at.
Since it is Veteran's Day thought it would be a good time to post it.
πΊπΈ Thanks to all the veterans past and present
in all the services who served. πΊπΈ

Hope you had a wonderful Tuesday.

I think you were wise to walk indoors around the basement.
Thank you for sharing the newspaper article, it must have been very worrying for Gramma to have all three boys serving in the army at that time.
On this important day ... we will remember those past and present both in the US and worldwide who served.
All the best Jan
Dear Karen, we got a lot of snow here in Montreal! And the Montreal transit workers are still on strike, which you can imagine is making things even more chaotic! I stayed in for the last couple of days because it is safer. Many people still don't have their snow tires, and crossing the street can become a hazard, as you never know how long the car may have to slide in order to stop.
I got a lot done, though, so it's all good. It's a beautiful winter wonderland.
God bless and honour all our veterans who fought for the freedom we have today.
I had one son in the army and can't imagine having 3 in at the same time. Very cool about having Jimmy Stewart as his commanding officer.
...walking is good for you, falling isn't!
Brave young men. and I know you are proud of them. What a keepsake the article is! But your poor mom!!
Hi Karen. I totally agree with you about falling. We have to be careful as we age. Your father and his brothers were handsome and brave and helped fight evil and preserve freedom. I am very grateful for men such as they from so many families across our nation.
