Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

ABC Friday

It was 40 degrees and no wind this morning for walking
but another cloudy one with patchy fog around.
Still it was good to be outside walking.
Sunrise 7:08

Water on the pond was smooth as glass, good for
a reflection.

Walked straight through town and to the DG Market.
Over to the ball park and around there.
Then through town again and up Sale Barn Road.

Cows were in the pasture up that way.
More of Farmer Marvin's cattle.

Then it was back to the Jeep and home.

While walking past the post office a man was getting back
in his truck and said to me,
I see you're taking your daily walk.
I said that I am. ๐Ÿ˜€

Happy to say the Canada Geese has left the back yard.
Guess he went back to the flock.
Maybe he found a new mate.

Baked another batch of Welsh Cookies for the Drane house sale
with just one more batch to bake.
The sale is Dec 6 so still have plenty of time.

I is for Ice Skating

⛸️ My mom and dad took me ice skating for the first time when I was
about 5 years old and I took to it right away.
They were both very good ice skaters.

We lived very close to a lake and when the lake froze you could find
me and others ice skating.
I could see an upstairs window of my house from the lake and when
it was time for me to go home my mom would pull down the shade and
then I knew to go home.

People had been skating there for years and even
my mom skated there when she was a kid.
Then one year 'they' decided
that it wasn't safe for us to skate there anymore.
Of course we all went anyway.
One day a policeman pulled up in his car and told us we couldn't
ice skate on the lake any more.
We didn't listen and just ice skated to the other side of the lake.
Then when he went to that side we skated away again.
I don't remember what happened but we continued to go
ice skating so he must have just given up. ⛸️

Hope you had a great Friday.
Thanks for stopping by.

Ivy - Yes, I have found paper money.  A dollar bill a couple of times and a 20 but one day a few years ago found a LOT of money.  You can read the post about it HERE.

Dear Karen, I don't know if you are aware of this of not, but the Blogger news feeder has been publishing blog posts later than we want it to publish...this includes posts that are either prescheduled or automatic. The only reason I am currently seeing your post is because I came directly to your blog, it hasn't yet shown in the news feed.
I love ❤️ the cows, they are beautiful. Your photos are lovely.
Here in Montreal, the city often makes skating rinks in parks in the winter, encouraging people to get out and enjoy the fresh air and to get their exercise. I love ❤️ watching both children and adults skating ⛸️ .

Yes, that water on the pond being so smooth provided an excellent reflection photograph.

All the best Jan

Dear Karen, I am going out, so I just checked the Blogger news feed and your post has still not shown up as yet...this is why there are no comments besides mine thus far.
Have a great weekend, dear friend ๐Ÿงก

The pond is beautiful today! I always enjoy seeing the cows.
My mom loved to ice skate but we didn't have ponds near us to do it. I never knew you were such a rebel - skating away from the police. :)
