Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Potato Peeler

No sun on this mornings walk.
Cloudy and felt like rain though it didn't rain till later in the day.
It was 51 degrees and a little windy.

Started out walking back down the main road towards home a ways,
then turned around and went back to town.

Then around both of the cemeteries.

Dianna, The little area with the benches is in the middle part of the cemetery.
The benches were donated in memory of a father and son who
are buried in another part of the cemetery.
Here's a better picture to show you were it is.

Stopped off at the Jeep and picked up a DVD and a book
and as I passed by the library dropped them down the slot.

Finished up my walk walking around town.

The geese were all out again.
They must be getting used to me because they didn't all run
away and I didn't get hissed at.

This huge leave caught my attention growing under
a pine tree.
So many different shades of green in this picture.

I never did see even a glimpse of the sun but it was a delight to be out walking.

☁️    😀    🌻    ☁️

We left after breakfast to go to the hardware store in Oakland and to Lowe's.
Then it was over to Walmart for this weeks groceries.

Once at home I got everything put away and then it was time for lunch.

After lunch got some house chores done.
Cool and showery in the afternoon so didn't get to go outside.

Got some reading and knitting done.

For supper I tried a new pork chop recipe for the air fryer.
Pork chops turned out pretty good and they were tender.
Recipe not on my recipe blog yet but will be very soon.

We also had green beans and mashed potatoes.
As I was peeling the potatoes it hit me that I've been using
this same peeler for over 52 years!!!
It's the only one I've ever used.
I think I got my moneys worth!
It probably cost $1.50

A doe left her baby here out back for a few hours.
We just saw mom come and get her.

That's it for today.
Happy Tuesday to you and
Thank for visiting.

I think the leaf under the tree is a hosta. They come in many sizes and colors. We have one in that color, it's a nice pop of color in the shade.
I love my air fryer and will be looking forward to your recipe!

I agree with Mari, I think that leaf is a hosta. I have an old peeler, but it's only about 25 years old :)

That is an old potato peeler! It has helped fix many delicious recipes! Glad you were able to walk before it started to rain. It's sunny and hot here today. See you again tomorrow!

Karen, thank you for answering my question regarding the benches... and for the picture that shows a wider area. That's so nice.

Glad we enjoyed those two days of sunshine when we had them.

Your supper sounds delicious.

I have the same potato peeler and I have been using it for about 50 years! I finally had to upgrade it to one almost exactly the same. I have all kinds of other peelers, but this old kind works the best for me. Maybe because I am so used to it? The leaf looks kind of like a Hosta leaf.

Yes ... lovely greens in your photograph.
Your potato peeler is doing well at over 52 years old :)

All the best Jan

I enjoyed our walk today and the photos. Pretty greens in the leaf photo. I have a peeler very similar but not nearly so old as yours. They do a good job.

Hey ... that's our potato peeler. Been looking for it for years. We thought we lost it and bought a new different style one.

God bless.

We're getting the rain here today. It's kind of misty out there right now.
I had one of those potato peelers for years but it ended up breaking.

We used to have a peeler like that but lost it through the years we moved. Like your new header photo, it's a beauty.

The potato peeler that we have is about the same vintage. It still works just fine.
It's really warm here today...30C which is about 86 or 87F.

My favorite kind of peeler! I've had fancier ones and I still end up using this one. I'll look for your air fryer pork chop recipe. I'm still learning to use my air fryer and need a new pork chop recipe!

I peel zillions of potatoes, (I really do) but have never used one like that. I use a paring knife, then slice the potatoes and pop them into the air fryer.
