Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Milk Bottle Monday

Walking this morning in town it was 35 degrees, clear, and calm.

Walked through town and made a stop at the library to drop a DVD down the slot, then continued over to the DG Market.
Turned around and went to the ball park and walked around there a couple of times.
That left both of the cemeteries to walk around.

Pretty quiet around town except for the geese.
There was a whole bunch of them sitting in the field and then all of a sudden they all took flight making lots of noise.
I captured some of them in this photo.

This picture didn't come out so clear but I liked the look of it with the tree, leaves on the ground and the bench.

Didn't see anyone else out this morning.

Morning Walk Steps
Didn't feel my wrist vibrate at 12,000 and by the time I noticed my steps were up to 14,053.

🎃    🥾    🍁    🙂

After breakfast we headed out to Walmart to the eye center.
Ken had to turn in his eye prescription and pick out frames - they will be ready next Tuesday.
While there I made an appointment to get my eyes checked.
I have reading glasses but think it's time I needed something for distance too.
We were really impressed with the eye center at this Walmart.
Very thorough, professional, and friendly.

I should have started on the usual weekly housework but it was such a beautiful sunny afternoon I decided to go walking in the woods instead.
I got a lot of steps in today!
When I got back Ken and I sat out on the front porch and ate an apple.

The baby deer isn't such a baby anymore.
Here she is getting a drink out back and her mama is coming along.

There is still some leaves left on the trees but most are gone now.

Milk Bottle Number 2
Quart Size
Tried filling it with water and food coloring but it made it no easier to see.
One side says Brookfield
The other side says Baby Top

I like your shot of the geese.
You got so many steps in today!
That's a very unique milk bottle.
We're having roasted sausage and veggies this week too.

Good choice! Walk in the woods vs housework!

...I started college at a junior college that had strong agriculture programs. We had a dairy program that bottled milk in glass pints with paper caps for the dinner hall. Many farm boys took two or thre at each meal.

Love the pictures and milk bottle. I can remember when all our milk was delivered to the front porch except when we lived in the country and daddy drove to a farmers to get the milk, with the cream on top for sure.
14000 plus! Amazing at 35 degrees...Love Jack

I've never seen milk bottles like these. I bet they are rare, and maybe worth quite a lot. You got a good photo of the geese. So many! It looks like they are just beginning to form a V. They honk when flying to encourage each other.

Baby deer has grown so much over the summer that it's hard to tell her from mama deer.

What is the story of these Brookfield milk bottles? I saw that some of the bottles are quite collectibles like the cobalt blue. They remind me of the old baby bottles at the turn of the century - they’d pop on a rubber nipple. Very unique. I’ve never seen any like that here - maybe I just never noticed but will now.

An apple a day plus a lot of walking keeps the doctor away.

That is an interesting milk bottle. How nice to se that baby deer growing up. Where my mom lives, she gets to see babies all of the time and watches them grow up to each year. I did like the pic with all of the leaves underneath. Very cool. Janice

That is a very interesting milk bottle. My sister in law used to fill her milk bottles with powdered milk.
I used to go to Walmart's eye center until I had a rather bad experience with some rude employees. That killed it for me.

I love seeing deer in the wild! There are a lot of geese around us right now too. They are gathering together to head South for the winter.

That is a cool Autumn shot with the tree, leaves and bench and shed! Good for you for going with the good weather and enjoying your woods! I've grown to appreciate Wal-Mart since we've moved to the country.
