Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Blooming Irises

55 degrees and cloudy this morning when I walked.
Just as I got back to the Jeep I felt a few sprinkles.
Sunrise was 6:02
and I stared walked at 6:25.

Walked over to the library and dropped Grandma Gatewood's Walk
off at the library.
Ken finished it last night and liked it as much as I did.

From the library I walked over to the DG Market and walked
down one of my favorite walking roads behind the the store.

The industrial park is off to the left and walked around there also.

Then Back in town and around the ball park loop a couple of times
and then headed back to the Jeep.

On the way to town I saw a couple of cardinals and bluejays.
Around the industrial I saw a few red winged black birds.
Also a couple of rabbits.

Sheila was out running.
Didn't see anyone else.

The irises in town all have lots of buds on them and these two were
already blooming.

Thought these flowers hanging by the mail box were pretty.

We had just finished breakfast when David came by with some fresh
baked donuts for us from the Rolling Pin Bakery in town.
It was very hard not to eat one but will save them for my snack tonight.

Did my usual morning house chores and by that time there was
no drizzle and it was just cloudy.
I got changed and was going to go out and collect more rocks out back
but when I got outside it was drizzling again so I went back inside.

I've started knitting the queen size bedspread for our bed.
I'm sure this project will take quite awhile,
especially because I'll be working on other things as well.
I needed a size 10, 47 inch circular needle because of the many stitches.
I didn't have one and Mikey, one of my knitting friends from the library gave me one.
Isn't she nice!!

It was a drizzly cloudy day until 5:00 when we had full sun!!
A bit late to get outside to work.

Well that's going to be it for today.
Happy day to you and once again thanks so much for stopping by.

Deb - Yes, houses are expensive all over even here in the middle of nowhere.🙂 The house for sale from yesterday is on the market for $384,500.  I looked it up on Zillow and here is the LINK.

I walked a small part of the AT back in 1970 with a friend.  We got on the trail at Greenwood Lake on the border of NJ/NY.  Spent one night out in a tent.
Ken and I walked on it for a bit a couple of times some years ago.  Got on the trail in Frederick, Md.

Good to hear from you! I thought of you while out walking this morning. Only an hour walk here at the farm. My Iris are about finished for the season.

Hi Karen, It’s great to see you back. I have often wondered what it will be like when I decide to publish my final post. Like yourself, I think it has become a part of my routine. As usual, I enjoyed all your photos. The flowers are beautiful. Take care and say HI to Ken. John

It looks like a pretty walk today.
We used to have someone on our street who was a huge iris lover. Her whole front yard was planted with iris and when they bloomed, she would call me and have me walk them with her while she pointed out her favorites. She passed away and her grandson moved in. He dug them all up and planted grass. I wish he had saved a few to remember her by.
Your blanket for the bed is quite a project. You'll have to keep us up to date on it!

Hi Karen. I love Iris. I want to get some for my yard. They are some of my favorite flowers. That is a nice big house on a beautiful lot. Here in our area of Utah, it would cost about $300,000 + MORE than in Accident. Houses around here are ridiculous. See you again tomorrow!

That does look like an enticing route for your walk.
The colors of the iris are so pretty. I also like the flowers by the mailbox. I'll bet the mail carrier enjoys them too.
Your bedspread sounds like it will keep you occupied for a long time. I look forward to seeing the finished project.

What a nice thought from David to bring you the donuts. Our Irises were full of buds before we left for the weekend. I think we'll come home to blooms. That deep color on the second Iris is so pretty.
