Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Hearing the leaves, smelling the rain

A left over picture from yesterday.

To town and walking 6:25 this morning.
The sun rose at 7:18 but didn't see the sun.
A bit of light rain sprinkles once in a while but mostly just cloudy.
It was 58 degrees.

Walked up and down main street and the two streets on either side of it, and both cemeteries and the ball park.

Nothing to report around town today, very quiet, didn't see anyone else out.

It was nice walking through the leaves hearing that rustling sound.

There was just enough rain sprinkles around to get that rain smell.  Know that smell I mean?

It was cloudy and looking like rain all day and I didn't get much done.
One of those puttering around the house days.
Worked on the latest baby blanket and I'm just about done already.

In just a bit we are off to church this evening.
There is a special dinner being catered to all us couples who have been married 50 years or more.
Should be a fun evening.

Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by.

How beautifully leaves grow old.
How full of light and color are their last days.

Eileen - No, leaves haven't reached peak yet, still quite a few green leaves around.

Simplicity - Don't walk in the woods when it's dark, I walk in town under the street lights when it is dark.

Ginny - Don't really need a mixer for the dough, you can always mix the dough by hand. The mixer just saves a little time.

As I am reading your blog post I have the windows open and can actually smell the rain coming in now. Wish they could make it into a candle as I do love that smell. Janice

I'm glad to know about the dough! Your first photo is beautiful. I DO know what you mean about smelling rain. My Mom used to say she could smell rain coming. We have been married over 50 years as well. I hope you both have a great time!

I love the leaves in the second picture. So many different colours!! And, yes, I must admit I still scuff my feet when I walk on fallen leaves.

Thanks for the reply, hubby and I would like to see the peak colors.
Take care, have a great weekend.

I thought it was supposed to be rainy here yesterday but it turned out to be a gorgeous day. I can't resist walking through a pile of leaves. I just love the hear the rustling as you walk through.
Hope you enjoyed the dinner. How nice that they're doing that.

I love the sound of walking through leaves. It reminds me so much of walking my young kids around on Halloween!
