Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Fun at Lowes

62 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds at first.
A few miles later there were only clouds.
Sunrise 5:54
Morning Walk Steps 13034

Started my walk going down the main street back towards home
and turning around and going back to town.

On the way back I turned up Barn Sale Rd and then
over to the cemeteries and walked around both of them.

Over at the big barn there are now a couple of goats in with the little horses.
They weren't much interested in me and stayed exactly where they were.

The corn is now about a foot or so tall.

From the cemeteries I walked over to the ball park and walked
around the loop a couple of times.
Then up and down a few side streets on the way back to the Jeep.

Didn't see anyone else out walking but quite a few people were
out mowing lawns and straightening up front porches.
Probably getting things ready for the 4TH of July parade
in town tomorrow that runs right down main street.

We went to Oakland today to do a few errands.
That's where the Walmart is which we only go to a couple of times a year now.
A few things we just can't get anywhere else so we go and stock up.

Made a stop of CVS and got my moisturizer.
I use CVS brand sun block for my moisturizer and use it every day.
Great stuff!!

Visited Lowes while we were out too.
Ken made us a Corn Hole game but we don't have any
grass or level area big enough to set it up except for the gravel area in front
of the garage doors.  So I got an idea to get indoor/outdoor
carpeting to put under the corn hole game.
We found some in Lowe's that came in rolls and bought two of them.
They were 8 foot rolls and we each carried one.
I started bopping his roll with mine.
By the time we were out in the parking lot we were both laughing
and having a dueling fight hitting each others rolls.
We must have made quite a sight.
When we finally arrived at the car I said to Ken,
How old are we?

I started reading The Lost Apothecary and liked it right away.

Knitted some more on the small white afghan I've been working on
for a while now and the end is in sight.
Just 6 more pattern rows and then finishing it off
with 8 knitting rows and I'll be done.

We've had some sun and rain showers and sun again.
Weather couldn't make up its mind,
but it was nice to see the sun if only for a little while.

Thanks for stopping by
Happy Monday

Sounds like the best kind of trips to Lowes :)

I must live under a rock - I have never heard of the cornhole game until recently. I asked my husband and he never heard of it either. Must be a regional game that is sweeping the nation.

Wait, I just looked it up - we do know the game only we always called it, a bean bag toss.

Sounds like fun at Lowes.

Nice morning for a walk! It's incredibly humid here right now so morning walks end up being pretty sweaty! You're never too old to have fun!

Did the carpet work like you had hoped? You two are a caution!!

Hi Karen. You and Ken always make a happy time of it, no matter what you do. I would LOVE to only go to Walmart twice a year! Our nearest Walmart is about a mile away and I am in there WAY too much. Glad you had another nice day. Happy July 4th tomorrow.

Whenever I see a corn field like that I always think, is it knee high by the 4th of July.
Sounds like you and Ken had a good time on your outing. It's good to fit in a little play time now and then.

I like those scenes you captured on your walk. Laughing at you two dueling at Lowes! What a great idea for your cornhole game using that outdoor carpeting. There is a cornhole tournament at the party we are going to today for 4th of July with a crowd from church. Happy 4th to you!

Thank you for being in touch with me. It sounds like you were enjoying yourselves on your little shopping spree. My, your walking is wonderful. I so need to be doing that as well. I plan to browse through your past postings. A blessed 4th of July to you and your family. Hugs, Teri

Happy 4th of July!! I hope that indoor/outdoor carpet works for you. I passed a field of corn the other day and it was knee high and made me think of that old saying Knee high by the 4th of July.
