Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

In the kitchen

39 degrees under cloudy skies when walking this morning.
Sunrise 7:17
Walking Steps 12889

Walked through town and back and around both cemeteries.
Then over to the ball park and around there.
Another walk through town and up and down the side streets to
finish it off.

Some of the side streets in town are no more than alleys
and rarely do I meet a car on one.

So nice to run into Joy this morning and we stopped to chat a bit.
Now that weather is getting better I'm sure I'll see more of her.

Though it was cloudy when I started out near the end of my walk
the clouds were starting to make way for some blue sky.
We eventually had a nice sunny day.

13 people responded to my question yesterday about painting the hutch white.
  • One for leaving it as is.
  • Seven for painting it white.
  • Four like it both ways.
  • One suggested painting top white and leave bottom
Still can't make up my mind but thanks so much for your input.

Lots of time spent in the kitchen today.
Seems like I spent more time cleaning up after each thing I made than
it took to make it!!

House smelled good with Dill Bread baking in the bread machine.

I also baked Snickerdoodle Bread.
Was going to bake the cookies but the bread was quicker.

Did a couple of things around the house and read in between jobs.
With more reading this evening and tomorrow morning before
my book club meeting I'll be able to finish the book.

Made Broccoli Cheese Soup for supper.
The Dill Bread goes great with the soup.

That's been my day.
Hope your Wednesday was a good one.
Thanks for visiting.

Ginny, Ann, Michelle - Yes, the dishes on my hutch are FiestaWare.  I collect the 6 original colors and all my dishes are old ones.  They are the dishes we use every day.

Anni - The giraffe you spotted yesterday is named Geraldine and yes she is made of wood and is 40 inches tall.  I move her around quite a lot.  She gets tired standing in the same place. πŸ™‚

...we look the same as you today, our snow has melted. This evening we had home made chicken noddle soup and peaches that I canned last year. Enjoy your evening.

My goodness, you're baking up a storm! Oh, that soup! I love it! We've made it many times, and I think I need to make it again soon!😍 The dill bread sounds yummy! We've done rosemary bread and I've also used Italian seasoning as an herb blend for bread. So many wonderful ways to do bread!

Yes, but what does Ken think about the hutch? ☺️ Love that Geraldine is on the move just like you!

The breads and soup sure sound good for these cold winter days. I missed your post yesterday and I had to go back and read it....I wanted to check out your hutch! I left a comment.

I love Geraldine! I would either not paint it, or do distressed farmstyle white.

If the hutch was in an enclosed sun room, then white...but against the wall I'd prefer the rich brown tones for warmth.

Love that giraffe!!!!

I often move ornaments around the house; like your giraffe. It is not for their benefit; but just to drive people crazy!

God bless.

Hello,
Love the sky images, we had a few beautiful days. The soup and snickerdoodle bread both sound yummy. Take care, have a great day!

I'm voting white on the hutch. An off-white chalk paint would be so pretty!

The original fiesta ware is the best. Although I have the newer fiesta ware, I do have original Riviera made by Homer Laughlin.
I assume you wash it by hand?
So much delightfulness in this post! Baking, cooking, dishes, Geraldine!!

Can I still vote on the hutch? lol I would leave it the way it is. It's beautiful and the wood tones are always in style (oh and I'm lazy about refinishing things). Enjoy your morning!

That soup and bread sounds like a great combination. Yum. How nice to have a town with safe alley ways!

Geraldine is very adorable, and she truly brings a joyful vibe to your cooking space. It sounds like the soup and toast with dill are delicious.

We enjoy the Dill Bread and just this week I used the last of the second loaf to make croutons which I served on the Cauliflower soup I'd made. It was good. We walked in light rain this morning.
I had hoped for some sunshine this afternoon but unfortunately it didn't happen.
