Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Outside

Snow and a wintry mix of snow and ice forecasted for today but when I got up nothing was falling from the sky so decided to go to town for my walk.
It was 27 degrees, cloudy and windy.
Sunrise 7:30
Walk Steps 11889

Plenty of good places to walk without ice in town, but some places still icy.
Walked through town and went over to the industrial park.
Good walking there and on the street
between the industrial park and the main road.
No sign yet of the wintry weather on the way.

Sure nice being able to outside walking.
Didn't see any people or animals either, and just a few cars.
School was cancelled because of the weather.

I was walking up this road behind the house where we used to live

and that is when the snow started.
Usually it starts with a few flurries for a while before it really starts to snow.
Not today.
By the time I got to end of the road and turned around at the circle and walked back a few minutes later it looked like this.

I'm just a little over a half mile away from the Jeep at this point
but thought I'd better get back to the Jeep and home.

It took less than 10 minutes to get back to the Jeep
and this is down the main road in town already.

By the time I got back to the Jeep,
the wind was blowing the snow in my face and I could barely see.
Was glad to make it back.

On the way back home in the Jeep.

Glad I got to walk outside but just as glad to get back home in a nice cozy house.

Mid morning the snow changed to a snow/sleet mix.
It all stopped by lunch time.

Thought for sure I would have finished knitting the afghan last
night but still working on it.
Just have 3 more rows to do later so it WILL be done today.

Worked on the latest puzzle this afternoon.
Haven't worked on it for a few days so just have all the pieces
laid out on the table, the border done and a few other pieces in place.

Thanks for visiting.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Comment Replies:
Sandi - We did have a treadmill at one time but I just don't like walking on one.  I'd much rather walk loops in the basement.  At least I move and don't walk and not get anywhere. πŸ˜€

Anni - Your comment made me laugh.  So true!! πŸ˜€

Wow, things changed fast.
I'm not good with cold, so I walk every morning on the treadmill, but I think your way is better.
It snowed all day here too, and is supposed to continue all week.

You really captured the weather as it deteriorated into almost a whiteout. It does look awfully cold. I have to hand it to you for walking in that cold of weather.

Here we got a snowstorm start up in the afternoon, expected to last well into tomorrow.

WoW, I think it's amazing and wonderful that you get out and walk so much when it's so cold. I enjoyed the pictures today!

You read about blizzards coming so fast that people used to lose their way
( think horse and buggy days). I'm glad you got home safely.

Wow! That storm came on fast. It started here at 2:30 pm and will end in sleet and rain sometime tomorrow. I saw one person out walking into the wind with her head down. It looked like quite a struggle. I was glad to be inside.

Hi Karen,

What a beautiful blog post. Snowstorms can come up so treacherously fast. It's beautiful but it can also be dangerous. Glad you chose to go home. And glad you took such interesting photos. I love looking at the photos. Your environment is so different from mine here in the Netherlands. But we both like to walk. You puzzle, I do diamond painting. I'm too impatient for puzzles but diamond painting made me very happy. I wish you a good Thursday and I hope you get to see some sun.

That sure is a big difference in weather. The last pictures are what it looked like here yesterday. There wasn't much accumulation but it just made everything rather slushy.

Hello,
we had a little snow yesterday too, but then the rain came and washed it all away. I am glad you made it home safely. Take care, have a great day!

Good thing you got most of your walk in before that snow started. It sounds like a good day to be inside.

The weather sure changed fast but you made it home safely and that's what counts.

Glad it worked out for you to walk in town again and that you were only 10 minutes from your car when the snow started. We are supposed to get some more snow on Saturday...
