Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The Victorian House

A clear morning, 43 degrees with no wind and sunny
once the sun rose at 7:19.
Walked 5.7 miles
Found a Dime

Walked up and down the streets in town and
once around the ball park loop,
then up behind the house where we lived in town.

Back to the main road and walked towards home a ways before
turning around and going back to town.

Saw both Lisa and Rebecca out walking but both too far away to say hi.

I waved to the police officer in the car shooting radar near town as I walked by.
Didn't see anyone get pulled over.

You may remember me saying the big old Victorian house
in town was getting new white siding.
Well it is finally done and I think it looks terrific.
It has been painted a few times since the 9 years we have lived up here.
Every time it is sold it gets a new color.
First it was green - couldn't find a picture.
Then it was this bright blue color.

The next owners painted it this color.

Now here it is finished with the new white siding on it.
The bottom siding is horizontal and the top half has vertical.

I've been inside the house and it is a great old house.
(except for the kitchen and bathroom - but I'm sure they
have been renovated by now)
My favorite part of the house is the attic.
It is one huge big finished room.

 ☀️    🥾    🍁

Another good day for getting a load of wash done and dried outside.

Then set about making some English Muffin Loaves.

Finished up some house chores and then walked
up to the cabin along the path to see how Ken was doing
on the digging.

Things are progressing and I was right there are rocks involved.
Not going to take a picture until it is all done.

This afternoon I was outside for a while just because it was
a nice sunny day.  Walked around and just enjoyed being outside.

Then there was time for reading and knitting before supper.
I finished knitting the third scarf.
Just have to add the fringe.
It's been a good day.

Thanks for popping in.
Happy Thursday🤗

Vee - Yes the town has a website but don't know if they accept photos - never looked into it.

Ginny -  Don't know why all the houses are for sale.  I suppose some don't like the winters, others looking for work, and any other reasons people move.  Houses here  usually take a while to sell.  No, there is no new housing developments around town.  Don't think anyone wants to invest in something like that here.

Ann - Yes, the cabin is on our property (Happy Trails) and is about 1/4 mile from our house.  Ken and I built it some years ago and now David and Liz live there.

Kim - Yes, you are the one with the blog that gave me the great idea about having a spice drawer!!! Thanks for letting me know it was you. 😀

Sandi - I'm reading a Michael Donnelly book, The Black Echo, the first Harry Bosch novel.

I love the white Victorian house. Beautiful. I hope they did renovate the kitchen and bathroom which would make it perfect.

I like old houses and the Victorian one that you photographed is a beauty. I'd love to tour it. Thanks for taking pictures of all sides. ( I really liked the blue paint it had once).

Hi Karen. I love the pictures of the beautiful fall leaves in your town and on your property. That Victorian home looks great. I would like to see the inside of it. I re-checked out the book Cul-de-Sac and so far I am really liking it. Glad you had a good day. See you again soon!

It sure is looking pretty in your area.
That Victorian house is beautiful! The white siding is perfect. The blue was terrible.
There's a Victorian house near us that is pink. It's a pretty house, but the pink really detracts.

In my opinion, the old Victorian never looked so good! I am wondering what the radar showed your speed to be. 😉

The trees are starting to turn pretty colors there. I love the Victorian house, especially that big wrap around porch!

What a beautiful treasure that house is. I can picture the shiny oak floors and hear the creak of the wood as I step. Wonderful.

Hope you didn't get "pulled over" with the radar gun!!😉

That house is amazing. I love how they did the siding in two different directions. I thought I didn't care for it in the blue but the color in the second picture was nice. Once I saw the white though, that just looks fantastic.

What a great old house! i liked the look just before the siding best, but the siding looks nice, too. Lots of beautiful foliage in your corner!

I love those big old houses with so much character! I read a few of the Harry B. books but they got to be more gruesome than I can take and stopped. That author is SO good though! Enjoy your day!

Gorgeous Victorian house!!!!

It itself, must be so happy, to have this last decor. So relieved! :-)))))

Wonder who built it? Had to have had money. Also, present owners must have money too. Must cost a lot to heat.

Gentle hugs,

I think the old house looks great now! The house my grandparents had when I was growing up had an attic like that! There was several double sized beds in it and we used to spend the night up there with our cousins. Many good memories!

The Victorian house looks real nice. That bright blue color was a little too much for my liking. Hope you have a nice weekend. I'm off to our church women's retreat in about an hour.
