Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Twin House For Sale

πŸ™‚  Thanks for all the Birthday wishes. πŸ™‚

Sunny and 62 degrees this morning when walking.
Walked 5.6. miles

When I first got to town I saw a young deer down by the pond.

Walked around both cemeteries and the ball park.
Then went down the main road back toward home and the
turned around and went back to town.

This is another abandoned house I pass every day.
It's been just sitting there for at least 5 years.

Up at the cemetery there were a variety of birds.
Killdeers
Red Winged Black Birds
Swallows
Blue Birds
and the usual Robins and Crows.
I watched a Crow chase and dive bomb a Turkey Buzzard in flight.

An old Ford truck for sale.
Guessing maybe 1928 or 9.

Saw Roger walking his dog from a distance again and saw
an older woman taking a walk up to the cemetery when I was
getting back in the Jeep to go home.

One of the twin houses now has a For Sale sign in front of it.
Click on the LINK to see pictures.
The pictures sure make it look bigger than the pictures I took!
Seems a bit pricey to me!

It was a beautiful morning for walking.

Though this looks a bit like Queen Annes Lace which blooms
later in the season I THINK it is Cow Parsnip.

☀️    πŸ₯Ύ    🌸

Got a slow cooker of Chili going right after breakfast.
Always nice to get supper out of the way first thing in the morning.

Did some of the usual house chores.
Another beautiful sunny day for sitting out on the porch.
Inside with the windows open it was so pleasant having
the cool breezes blow through the house.

Got a bunch of weave-it squares done for the June baby blanket.
Sewed them together and now have 30 of them all sewn.
40 more to go.

Had taco salad for supper with the chili.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day Tuesday to you. πŸ€—

Memorial Day

57 degrees under sunny skies this morning when I walked.
Walked around both cemeteries and the ball park.
Saw Rebecca and John walking their dogs but both
were far away from me.

Every year Flags are put out at the gravesites of all the Veterans
on Memorial Day.
All the Fireman from town get red flags too.
A very special Thank You to all Veterans

Lots of wild daisies are now blooming along the roadside.

Pretty quiet on this early morning Memorial Day around town.

Just walked 4.5 miles

☀️    πŸ₯Ύ    🌸

Another quiet day around the house for us.
Got a bit of work done.
So nice and sunny so I spent a good part of the day
sitting out on the porch and deck.

This year Memorial Day falls on the REAL Memorial Day
which is also my Birthday. (71)
Ken usually bakes me a chocolate layer cake with whipped cream icing
but that is being put on hold for a little while and
will be something to look forward to
when we are feeling back to normal.

Skies, Psalm, and a Sign

 Happy Sunday
Picture taken earlier this week.

This morning it started out a little foggy.

🌀    πŸ₯Ύ    πŸ™‚

πŸ“–  Psalm 37: 7 - 9  πŸ“–

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him:
fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,
because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath:
fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

For evildoers shall be cut off:
but those that wait upon the LORD,
they shall inherit the earth.

πŸ“–    πŸ“–

I've been walking past this sign since Easter
and every time I do I want to change the
HOPE
to
ETERNAL LIFE.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

Tiny Corn Shoots

It was a cloudy morning for my walk today,
55 degrees and a few minutes of a light misty rain.

You can just see the very first shoots of corn popping out of the ground.

Once again I didn't see anyone else out walking.
Just me and the birds.

Walked around both cemeteries and then over to the ball park,
back to the pond.  Went up and down the main street in town.

Peeked in the window of one of the twin houses again and this
time you can see the kitchen is done.
Looking in the front window.

This picture I took from the front door window.

Quite a few rhododendron are now blooming around town.

And this is the biggest one I've seen which I take a picture of every year.

I walked 5.2 miles

☁️    πŸ₯Ύ    🌸

Up ahead on the right is the beginning of the road I live on.
The land was bought along here by Farmer Marvin
and posts are being put in along the road.
Pretty sure we will be seeing some cows and bulls here one day.

Another day of taking it easy.
Just a few chores
Reading
Knitting
Watching some Escape to the Country on YouTube.

A happy Saturday to you. πŸ€—
Thanks for stopping by.

BillyB - Yes we like watching the UK ETTC.  How cool that you were in one of the houses that was on the show!!

Ginny - Yes, sometimes ducks are on the pond, but mostly there are geese.  Have seen a heron there a few times too.

Tested

55 degrees and pouring down rain when I got up this morning.
Just didn't feel like getting soaked so didn't go walking.

In the afternoon it stopped raining and I just went walking
outside around the house for a bit.
Didn't keep track so don't know how far I walked.
Not far though, just enough to get outside for a bit.
Still tire easily.

Ken has tested positive for Covid and I took another test
and I too have it which is why I still tire easily.
Ken is a bit worse off than I was but still a pretty mild case and
he is improving.

We've been watching renovation shows on YouTube
and Escape to the Country.

I also got some reading and knitting done.
Not much else going on around here.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Friday to you. πŸ€—

BillyB - The road from yesterday is the main one that runs north and south in our county.  Though that one is straight it is NOT typical of the most of the country roads!

A sunny day

A nice sunny morning for walking with just a few clouds.
A nice warm 58 degrees.

Walked around both cemeteries and then headed down the main road
back toward home for a mile.
Then turned around and walked back to town.

Walked through town and over to the Dollar General where I
turned around in the parking lot and went back to the
Jeep which is parked by the pond.

Didn't see anyone else out walking at all and no one even fishing
at the pond.

At the end of my walk I went down by the pond and
sat down on one of the benches for a little while.
So peaceful sitting there looking over the water.

Today I walked 5.4 miles

🌸    🌀    πŸ₯Ύ    🌼

I made some pancakes for breakfast.

A nice sunny day so I did a load of laundry
and did a few more house chores and then sat out on the
deck out back watching the chipmunks on the stone walls.

All the trees have just about grown in now and it all looks so
lush and green.

Like most afternoons I did some reading and knitting.

It's been a good day
and for that I am thankful.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Thursday to you. πŸ€—

Kens Turn

49 degrees with some sun and clouds as
I walked around town this morning.
Very quiet and didn't see anyone else out walking.
Just one fisherman at the pond.

Bulls all standing up and eating this morning.

Walked around the cemeteries, the ball park and
through town.

Saw 3 different size trusses being delivered at the property where
the old house is abandoned in town.
Have no idea what the trusses are for.
Will have to watch and see.

Walked 5.5 miles
Still feel a bit tired so didn't walk all 6 miles yet.

🌸     πŸ˜Š    🌸

Ken didn't escape getting sick after all.
So now it's my turn to take care of him.

Did house chores around the house and then
didn't do much of anything.
Dozed off this afternoon when I was reading.

Have a happy Wednesday. πŸ€—

A couple of bulls

This morning I was in town walking at 6:10.
It was a cloudy morning and 45 degrees.

Started my walk walking around both cemeteries
and then headed on over to the ball park and walked around there.

John was once again walking his dog and the same three
people were fishing around the pond.

Most of the bulls were still laying down on the hay
but these two were busy eating and posed for a picture.

When I got back by the Jeep I stopped to get the library book
and then walked over to the library and dropped it down the slot.

A couple of pretty blooms along the way.

Didn't quite make all 6 miles this morning but it was
a good walk at 4.7 miles.
I'll aim for a little over 5 miles tomorrow and then on to my usual
6 miles on Thursday.

☁️    🌸    πŸ₯Ύ

After breakfast we left to go food shopping for the week
at the Shop and Save.

Did another load of laundry but since it was a cool,
cloudy day with a little mist once in a while
they had to get dried on the drying rack.

Did a few more house chores and then like yesterday
I read and knitted in the afternoon.

Thanks for visiting.
A happy Tuesday to you. πŸ€—

A Short Walk

Happy to say I started taking my morning walk again today.
It was 48 degrees.
Some sun, some clouds, and fog.
I promised Ken I wouldn't walk more than 3 miles on my first
day back.  Kept it pretty close and walked 3.2 miles.

On the way to town I saw a few rabbits and a couple of deer.

Walked around both cemeteries and the ball park.

Saw rabbits at the cemetery and a couple blue birds as well.

John was out walking his dog and
Rebecca was out running.

Three people around the pond fishing.

Some pictures along my way.

🌸    🌼    🌸

Got the sheets washed and hung out on the line first thing
when I got back from walking.
It was supposed to rain by afternoon and I was hoping they would dry
before the rain came - and they did!!

Yesterday afternoon I planted some more petunias and pansies.
Have a few more pansies to plant but need to fill a couple more
planters with good dirt first.

Some of the strawberry plants that I planted have little
strawberries starting already. πŸ“

Got a few things done around the house and then
read and knitted.

Mama Deer brought her baby around again today.

BTW
We are very pleased with our new internet provider NuBeam.
Works great and we don't have to worry about how much
broadband we are using up.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Monday to you. πŸ€—

Sunrise, Sunset, Hymn, and Verse

 Happy Sunday

A pretty start to the day.
A reflection of the sun on fog.
Picture taken last Monday from the lower cemetery.

The ending of a day.
Pink sky from my front porch.

🌸    🌸    🌸

A hymn for Sunday

🎢 Our Great Savior 🎢

Jesus! what a Friend for sinners!
Jesus! Lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Savior, makes me whole.

Jesus! what a Strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in Him;
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
He, my strength, my vict'ry wins.

Jesus! what a Help in sorrow!
While the billows o'er me roll;
Even when my heart is breaking,
He, my Comfort, helps my soul.

Jesus! what a Guide and Keeper!
While the tempest still is high;
Storms about me, night o'er takes me.
He, my Pilot hears my cry.

Jesus! I do now receive Him,
More than all in Him I find;
He hath granted me forgiveness,
I am His, and He is mine.

Chorus

Hallelujah! what a Savior! Hallelujah! what a friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.

πŸ“–    πŸ“–    πŸ“–

 Isaiah 43:11
I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

Baby Deer

Mama deer came by with her baby this morning.
Taken out the bathroom window.

Taken out the bedroom side window.

They walked to the back of the house and
after walking around back for a while,
mama settled baby down hidden in some tall grass.
Then she made it down by the deck and got a drink of water.

She took a good look around then left.

I went outside and walked around a bit.
Nice and sunny but very windy but still nice to get outside.

This is the first year the wisteria has bloomed.
Only these few blooms but I am delighted.

I finished reading a book called
The Crows of Hidden Creek by JoAnn Huston Niemela.
It's a childrens book all about the first year of life of a couple of
crows who live at a golf course.
The author is the mother of a woman Ken worked with.
I had a signed book and loaned it to a friend who lost the book
years ago.  Really liked the book and was sad not to have it any more.
Ken found it looking around on Amazon and bought it for 99 cents and
put it on my Kindle.

Did you know that a flock of crows is called a Murder?
If a crow survives the first year he/she will probably live 17 to 21 years.

I sat out on the porch for a while and started reading another
Anne Perry book.

Tomorrow we will be going to church on FB.
Don't want to take a chance on making anyone sick.

Hope your Saturday was a happy one. πŸ€—

Getting Better

I am much better and continue to improve,
but haven't been back to walking yet.
A picture from my last walk on Tuesday.

Ken thinks I shouldn't try to walk till Monday and I will
probably listen to him.

Thank you all for your well wishes and those prayers.
They certainly helped.

Ken has been taking good care of me.

I Sat around dozing a lot but today I'm up and about more
doing a few things.

Missed Blankets for Babies yesterday but today have started
making weave-its for the blanket for June.
Will just hand in two blankets next month.

Well just wanted to pop in and let you know how things are going.
Have a very happy Friday.

Not So Good

Had a sore throat last night and the start of a headache.

Walked anyway this morning and I used up all my energy for the day.

Didn't do a thing today except sit in a chair and doze on and off.
Have a terrible headache.

I'll be back when I'm feeling better.
Won't be around to visit either today.
I did take a Covid test and it is NOT that.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Cotton Candy Grapes

58 degrees and the morning started with a little
patchy fog around.

Walking around the cemetery on the top of the hill.

The lower cemetery.
To me, the gravestones look like a city in the distance
at the start of a new day.

By the time I had walked around the cemeteries,
the fog had gone and the sun was shining.

Looks like the geese are walking to church.

I continued walking over to the ball park and walked around there.
Saw 5 Goldfinch sitting in a row on the fence.
Would have made a nice picture but they all flew away.

Walked through town and down the other side of town.

Joy was out walking.
She has been walking a little later so it was nice to see her again.

All of a sudden the lilacs around town are all blooming.
My favorite is the dark purple.
Don't know if it is my imagination or not but it seems the
deeper the color, the more intense the smell is.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    πŸ₯Ύ    🌀

After I got home from walking it got very windy and some big
black clouds rolled in and we got some heavy rain this morning.
Once again I made it home just in time.

Seemed like a good morning to make pancakes for breakfast.

I was kind of glad that it was raining so I would stay inside
and get some housework done!!

David and Liz were telling us about grapes that taste like cotton candy.
They say they are only available around here for a short while.
I had never heard of them before.
This afternoon they stopped by and gave us a bunch of the grapes.
They really do taste like cotton candy. πŸ‡

Thanks for stopping by.
