Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Traction Cleats

Started my walk inside again this morning and in the afternoon
walked outside out back and up and down the lane
to get 6 miles walked.
This will be my walking routine for a while till I can get
back to town to walk.
Town is a mess for walking.
With sidewalks right at the edge of the street the snow
has no where to go when the snow plows come by so the sidewalks
are piled with snow.
The cemeteries and the ball park don't get cleared
and then there are the unexpected icy patches
so it is just easier walking around near the house.
Nice to have a change and I'll soon be back to walking in town.

We got a little more snow overnight
so before I went walking in the afternoon
I shoveled a couple inches of snow off the driveway.
Sun came out for a little while during the morning but by
late afternoon it was snowing again.

Walking in the snow and ice I used to put Yaktrax on my shoes or boots
and they worked fine but I have found
something I like better called Limm Traction Cleats.

YakTrax is on the left and Limm on the right.
I find it is easier to walk with Limm cleats and they just work
better with the cleats gripping into the ice and snow.
Both YakTrax and the Limm are easy to put on.

Inside I got the vacuuming done and also washed the sheets
and did a few other household chores.

Got a bit of knitting done and reading too.
Supper was easy because I had some Stuffed Pepper Soup
in the freezer that just had to be thawed.

That's it for today.
A happy Monday to you. 😊
Thanks for visiting.

It’s good to be able to depend on those traction cleats. We’ve had a little snow, though we usually don’t have very much. At this stage in our lives, we take no chances and are very cautious if there is any ice. Be safe, and stay well!

Those look like a good solution.

Hi Karen. I used the Yaktrax earlier this winter when we had a lot of snow and ice. They worked well, but my son got some of the cleats when he was working doing deliveries for UPS over the holidays. I think I will get some of those cleats as well. I bought some Yaktrax for my husband and he thought they were just too hard to get on his boots. Glad you had a good day. See you again tomorrow. :-)

I am glad you showed the pic of the cleats...I wondered how they go on your shoes and I can pretty much see with that. My dermatologist suggested curling shoes, but I hate to buy something I cannot try on first. So these would help.

It's Monday, so the sheets must be washed. We have had a long string of pretty Mondays so hanging them outside has been no problem so far this winter. You have so many beautiful places to walk right to your doorway. A little traction is always good! Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the update on attachments for walking on ice. We have been icy around here these days. Nice to have the option to walk more securely. How nice to take a prepared meal out of the freezer! Have a good week.

Those cleats look good, and safe too!
I love Freezer meals and that soup sounds good. I've been working on typing a bunch of freezer meals for a homemaking workshop our church is having in February. A friend and I are doing a meal planning, freezer meal section which will be fun!

Ahhh good idea, I will cook stuffed peppers... filled with ground beef and a wonderful sauce...og with potatoes :-)))
Your shoes are great for walking outside. We have little snow at the moment, it rains again and again. Maybe snow will come again in February. I would like to ski :-)))
Many greetings to you. It's great that you do your daily hikes. Super.

Hello,

The traction on the snow and ice is important. The Limm cleats do look easy. It's been so cold the snow is rock hard and not melting. Your soup sounds yummy.

The new ones seem to make more sense, even to me, a non ice walker! -smile-

I have the sheets in the wash today too! Must now dry them! Love fresh sheets.

Hugs...

When we lived in places where it snowed, my wife and I both had cleats and loved them. Could walk with confidence. Stay warm and cosy.

I am so relieved to see that you wear cleats when you go walking. I've always been worried about you falling. I should have stop worrying and just asked you if you wear them, LOL.

Both the Yaktrax and the Limm cleats look like very good solutions to the problem of icy paths.

I've not seen traction cleats before. Good to know they exist! We get so little snow, but when we do it would be nice to have them. Thanks for sharing! And isn't it great to be able to eat out of the freezer? So easy! We do that a lot, too.
