Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Christmas Mantel

It was 24 degrees and snowing when I drove to town for my walk.
I didn't stay though and came home again to walk inside.
The main road was fine but the sidewalks and side streets
had a coat of snow and I was afraid of hidden ice.
Most very time I've fallen have been in these conditions.

So today it was a 6 mile walk in the basement split in three times.

🛤 This is the cemetery I walked passed today. 🚂

🌨    🙂    ☁️

The Stocking Christmas decoration in town hangs by the other
church in town.

We went to the Dollar General this morning and also
dropped off a book at the library.

Have been making weave-it squares for the baby blanket for December.

Afternoon brought a bit of sunshine with it. ⛅️

I cleared off the mantel and decorated it with my little village
and some other Christmas things.
It looks a lot nicer in the evening when it's dark.

Another day zooms by.
Plan on reading and sewing some squares together this evening.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Monday to you. 🙂

I suspect I'll be quite wary of falling again after the last time.

You are fortunate to have a nice place in which to get your walk done, and the bonus of enjoying your husbands model train set up :)

I really love greens and whites together...so that blanket is sure going to be a pretty one!

Nice job decorating the mantle and when it's nighttime I'm sure it twinkles so pretty.

It is best to play it safe where ice is concerned....ask me how I know. LOL

Love your mantle...and going to really love the new baby blanket. Nice colors.

The mantle looks great with that wreath above it.
I like the blanket colors.
Good for you for walking even when you couldn't do it outside.

Last January I fell on an icy patch in a local park! I am going to try those clip on traction cleats this year so I don't fall on the ice. Great job on your mantle decorating. December blanket colors are very pretty. A very warm walk past Ken's village and no ice!

You must feel like a giant when you walk in your basement! 😊

That’s a great looking mantle. Your village and Tom’s wreath give it such a beautiful festive look. It is wonderful that you have such a fine place to walk when the weather outside is unfit.

Your mantel looks just lovely. You are smart to walk inside on a cold and icy day. I always enjoy pictures of Ken's train layout. See you again tomorrow!

Love the cute little cemetery! Your mantle looks beautiful. In our old house I had two mantles I used to love to decorate.

The mantle looks very nice, Falling on ice always raises my concern. We usually don't have ice but once in a while it does show up. Be careful!

Always love to see the sights on your walks whether inside or out.
I can imagine how magical your Christmas village looks at night. I really like how your mantle curves. A perfect spot to show off your decorations.

The mantel looks very festive.

The village looks very nice on the mantel...sort of like a little train village that Ken may have made. You are wise to avoid those frigid, icy mornings and walk in Ken's World.
